I am a quilter who also loves to crochet amigurumi, knit, tat and stitch. I am a married to a man that I met when we were 13 year old kids. I am mother of two adult children. I work full time in health care and wedge in my creative endeavors around the work week.I am all about working in short time block and leveraging the time I do have. One stitch, one block, one row at a time.

  1. I like knitting, but I have to be careful of my hands and can’t do much of it. I like the idea of a cowl. I should try one. I am a pretty slow knitter as well.

    I am glad you do custom/free motion quilting. I use a longarmer who only does that for me. (she has recently got a computer attachment and can do automatic longarming for those who don’t care). She has real skill and never complains. I prepare my quilts in exactly the way she wants them and we get along fine. I have had others do some longarming for me and the whining is terrible! They only do pantographs. They won’t quilt a quilt with 8 pointed stars. They won’t quilt quilts where the seams are pressed to the side. The list goes on and on.

    I agree that learning in a sampler class really prepares people for any kind of quilt. I do think that doing a small project so there is a sense of accomplishment before starting a sampler might get people interested. The fabric, of course, is crucial.

    • Wow, I can’t believe the long armers wailing! I figure that every quilt deserves to be finished and I can learn on every one that is on my frame. It is a win/win for everyone. I am really trying to get more people in our little town interested in quilting and all types of quilting. Hopefully I will have a class someday at the local shop, so far no one has signed up.
