  1. I like knitting, but I have to be careful of my hands and can’t do much of it. I like the idea of a cowl. I should try one. I am a pretty slow knitter as well.

I am glad you do custom/free motion quilting. I use a longarmer who only does that for me. (she has recently got a computer attachment and can do automatic longarming for those who don’t care). She has real skill and never complains. I prepare my quilts in exactly the way she wants them and we get along fine. I have had others do some longarming for me and the whining is terrible! They only do pantographs. They won’t quilt a quilt with 8 pointed stars. They won’t quilt quilts where the seams are pressed to the side. The list goes on and on.

I agree that learning in a sampler class really prepares people for any kind of quilt. I do think that doing a small project so there is a sense of accomplishment before starting a sampler might get people interested. The fabric, of course, is crucial.

    Have a great day.

    • Wow, I can’t believe the long armers wailing! I figure that every quilt deserves to be finished and I can learn on every one that is on my frame. It is a win/win for everyone. I am really trying to get more people in our little town interested in quilting and all types of quilting. Hopefully I will have a class someday at the local shop, so far no one has signed up.

  2. Wonderful podcast. I thoroughly enjoy listening to your voice and interesting snippets of life on the other side of the globe.
I’m doing the Tula Pink challenge of Instagram. Up to block 38. Yours is lovely and colourful. I’m using up some Joel Dewberry fabrics so limiting my fabric choices. I’m Madamcaterpillar on Instagram
    Cheers from New Zealand.

  3. Another great episode, Vicki! Keep ’em coming!

Jaye (Art Quiltmaker) would be a great person to discuss beginner’s classes with, especially if you’re thinking about doing a sampler.
