Pineapple Quilt for Pineapple Day!!!

I love paper piecing so much. I am participating with the Fat Quarter Shop”s quilt along making a pineapple quilt for Pineapple Day which is June 27th!

I used Fat Quartershop’s Pineapple Pads. I made both the 12 and 6 inch blocks. I thought having lots of negative space set in a white fabric would showcase the Tula Pink fabrics I used. I used the Zuma solids and scraps from my stash. I fussy cut centers for the large blocks. I haven’t tried much fussy cutting in the past but it is so cool !

I have made many paper pieced 6 inch blocks over the years. However, I have not made 12 inch blocks before. I was a little stumped at how to do it, because I normally just hold my blocks up to a light and hold the fabric in place. The FQS made a wonderful tutorial on how to use the foundation papers and once I watched the video, I was on my way!! Here is the video, just in case you may need it too!

The final result is a lovely quilt top. Using the papers made this project easy to do. The paper is really top quality for fpp.

I want to add another row and quilt it this winter. I thought the quilt looked so good next to my old Singer treadle but believe me, I used my Janome to sew it up!

Check out the Pineapple Pad pre-printed foundations papers from Fat Quartershop. No printing, no worries! Just tear it off the pad and your ready to piece!

Quilt on,

Vicki
