Saturday Morning Coffee

I have been slowly working on my goals of organizing and decluttering items from the house. I downloaded the Fly Lady app to read the suggested zones to clean and I was not able to deep clean each day as I had hoped. I did do the daily decluttering and found it wasn’t as hard as it was last time. I am getting in the mindset of letting go items we just don’t use. I was encouraged by watching Diane in Denmark in her daily decluttering and she had some very old things that she was able to get rid of. Made me feel better that I am not the only one!! Today I want to take the items I decluttered to the donation center. I have found some craft books, unused coffee cups, quilt rulers I don’t use, and a few things from the cupboards. I will admit that I have trashed another bag of old batting, fabric scraps and worn-out items in my decluttering missions this week.

As in any long-term project it is the consistent small amount that you do every day that adds up. I approach everything in that way, and that’s why the Fly Lady system is so helpful. It helps me focus and approach things in small steps. I am going to rework my cleaning routine to adjust to this vs doing is all on the weekends which isn’t working out for me. I get too tired, and I have other things I want to do I am already worn out.

I had a pulmonary function test this week and it gave results that were not surprising, a year into having long covid. Inflammation, breathing isn’t as easy and I use accessory muscles that are wearing me out to breathe were some of the results. I need my medication, some as needed meds I may need to use more than I thought. I also have a couple of other abnormalities in the amount of air I draw in. I have some techniques to try to loosen my muscles up. I may start doing to singing for a few min a day to help with breathing and strengthening, too. It’s exhausting, no doubt and I just have to pace myself. Maybe long term but there is hope that is still can improve over the next year. Long Covid symptoms have stabilized but will probably be around to stay at this point.

I am really enjoying hand stitching this week. I can do that in the evening when I am tired from a long days work. I am catching up on my temperature cross stitch. I continue to work on the 100 hexies projects. I also sewed the final border on my Granny Square quilt!! YAY it is ready to quilt! I am not sure what I want to do on it so I am going to think about it. I have only about 4 quilts of mine to long arm so the winter of binding will underway soon!

My beloved Home Chef has had some issues over the last month getting my food to me on time and in good condition to use. So we are going to do research this weekend on other services to see if they can get the food boxes to me on time. It is a great help to me for time , ease of cooking meals and getting nutrition in. I have to do a full grocery shop this week for all meals as we decide and it is overwhelming to try to get a list together of all the meals and items we need to buy with a menu plan in place. I hope we find something that works out for us because I really enjoyed the service and the meals.

This is the week where all the things I have been waiting for have come in. You may find it funny but these items have been much wanted! First of all, my new cPap machine came. I waited 18 months for a new one as my old one wasn’t working as it should. YAY!

The pistachio aida cloth for the Haunted Halloween cross stitch pattern I want to stitch on October was back in stock and it came, its in the back ground of the hexit pic! The top of my Hidrate spark water bottle broke and the replacement came! And the replacement carry on suitcase that Delta promised me for destroying my old carry one came , YAY! Felt like a week of birthday gifts or Christmas around here!

I am off to start the grocery shopping list. I am also going to make a game plan for how I want to tackle the chores this week. Today is cool but sunny so the trip to the donation center will happen as soon as they open.

Have a lovely week!

Vicki

  1. I couldn’t agree with you and Gail more about no more using up our weekends on “have to’s” instead of “want to’s”. It’s time to refine my system so I can have more time for fun projects. I’m going to resist the “productive” word as well because that makes it feel like an obligation. I love Diane’s show too- she is so encouraging!
I’m so sorry about your long Covid journey. You sure have been giving it your all to find things that help. I think singing sounds like good therapy! And the new cpap too!
I’m busy this morning getting ready for our historic weather event here in So Cal but hope by this afternoon I can calm my nerves with some stitching. Already filled my tank and stocked emergency supplies, sandbags ready. I just hope we don’t lose power or I will have to make coffee Vicki-style after your tornado last year!

    • I am taking more time to care for myself !! I am hoping to spend more time on those want to things. I just need to break the tasks up more thru the week!

I hope you have all you need for the storm! I was shocked about the hurricane ! Batteries, extra water all the foods you can eat without cooking. So much to prepare for ! I hope that the hurricane doesn’t hit land!!

  2. Love hearing your declutter journey. I’m doing the same thing and it’s inspiring and motivating to hear someone else’s progress. I’ve been an on again off again flybaby for years – but I’m getting “on again.” I commiserate with you about work-filled weekends. I’ve started proclaiming Saturday as a “Sabbath,” though not in the Old Testament sense, lol. It’s the day to feed my soul. When you work full-time, it’s so easy to end up with a weekend full of choirs and housekeeping tasks, and before you know it, it’s Monday morning and you’ve done nothing fun at all. So I’m with you! Lead the charge, lol.
