I had a vacation planned for this week, but it turned into a staycation instead. I am missing the AQS Quilt show in Grand Rapids. I am so glad I didn’t sign up for tons of classes and hotels because I am too sick to go. I am of a mind these days to not sign up for things unless there is a refundable/insurable ticket if you can’t make it. I am really sad about not being able to go however, I am not strong enough to do all the driving and walking and I am just going to make the most of a day at home instead.
I did see there is the Original Sewing and Quilting Expo in November in Novi. I am going to try to get to that show. I have never been. The weather is always a wildcard in Nov and my husband says he will drive me if all goes well. So I won’t miss out completely on going to a show! I am always looking forward to new adventures!
To celebrate my vacation, I decided to do something new that I have never done before. I booked a massage. I just did a short 30 min one on Thursday to see if I liked it and if my body could tolerate it. It was great and I am definitely going back. It was very helpful as I continue to recover from the most recent Covid infection.
I have been religiously doing things in 10 to 15 min increments. I am pretty happy that I have been able to start a pumpkin quilt from Scrappiness is Happiness. I worked on the spools blocks and prepped a quilt to load on the longarm. I worked on my Haunted Halloween Cross stitch. I also have broken up the household chores and some decluttering each day to 10 min.

I never ceases to amaze me how much progress you can see with consistent time put in on a project even in short increments. That was also the theme of the Virtual Conference I have been attending all week with Get Organized HQ. I watched many influencers present their topics on home organizing, decluttering and living your best full life without spending all of your time cleaning and organizing. They were speaking my language! I really enjoyed many speakers, but my favorites were Diane in Denmark, Cas of Clutterbug, Colleen of Lemon Thistle, Empty Nest Blessed and Home Storage Solutions 101. There were over 100 speakers so there are too many to list here but everyone I watched had great tips and ideas.
I am going to spend the weekend resting, watching football and stitching one thing or another. I am trying to do some very light exercise but walking around the block yesterday was too much. The gym is too much right now. I am going to stitck to doing a 10 min workout with Yes2Next.
I really wanted to let you one of the biggest take aways this week from the virtual conference was to stop trying to be perfect, productive for example cramming as much as one can possibly do in a day and working with what you have like your home, your energy levels, your budget, and not trying to do it all at once. I loved those reminders!
Have a great weekend and watch for a new weekly post coming tomorrow called Make it Monday!

I love both of those sayings!! I am definitely looking at less coming in and more going out. I have also let go of the notion that it is a one and done thing. It is constant. One really good nugget was reframing the thought of “I have to clean or declutter” to “I get to….” I am so blessed to have more than I need in most areas and have to donate or trash it!
Steps before stitching is great!! I am really working on several microsessions a day of some type of exercise and slowly get stronger! Thanks for your comment and support!!

Your takeaways are the same as mine even though I didn’t attend that seminar. I have my few favorites I watch on YouTube that keep me inspired. I appreciate that the advice always boils down to the same: keep it simple, don’t overwhelm yourself and some progress is better than no progress. I heard a tip too that said you should aim for more items leaving your house (trash, donate, etc) than coming in. That has been a game changer for me as a crafter and is helping me remember to use what I have! I’m sorry you are not well but happy you are in recovery mode and not getting worse! I hope you can plan even half a day at the November show. I heard someone say “steps before stitching” so that’s my new routine. Especially some stretching with my recent tendinitis flare up—hope you can do both today too!
