Saturday Morning Coffee

It never ceases to amaze me how fast we start losing daylight this time of year. We are at about 10 hours of daylight now dwindling to 8 in December. I should be used to it, but it is always a little jarring to realize one day it has been cloudy all day and you really haven’t seen the sun. What weak daylight you have had was filtered and grey for one day then a week. I am feeling that I could sure use a few rays of the sun soon. I am hoping we can go to the apple orchard tomorrow if it is not raining and everyone is well. If the weather forecast is right it may be partly sunny!

This week I have cross stitched part of the acorn for the Autumn Days ornament, and I sewed one courthouse stairs block. I start to feel that I used to get so much more done a week and have kids at home. I am honestly enjoying the slow process of making right now and I have to remind myself that I was very different back then with my health and motivation for making. I was making a little extra money back in the day by either making quilts, long arming or selling crafts for extra money. Now it’s purely for the joy of it.

I do have to say that moving my sewing machine off the dining room table and putting it in the small bedroom off the dining room may be part of it. Its literally 20 feet from where it was but it feels psychologically off in a different space, and I am not sure how I feel about it. I am sure my husband likes it more because he doesn’t have to listen to it right next to him as he is trying to watch TV or use his computer because his chair in the living room is right next to the dining room table and where I used to sew. I am keeping it in the new crafty space, but I have to adjust my thoughts that I can’t just pop in and sew a seam when I have 15 min because I sure can any time I want. It is a similar issue I have with the garage gym; I have to go outside to use it and it feels the same as going across town to use a gym. How the brain works and can get hung up on things like that is so strange. I am going “out” to use the gym more and “out” to use the sewing machine more is how I think of it. No just go and do it. That makes it sound easier!

Off to get some coffe and get this day going!
