New shoes. Why are they so hard to find?
I have a really difficult time finding them and I realized many years ago Birkenstocks are my shoe exclusively. I have been wearing my brown suede clogs for 5 years and it’s time to get another pair. I am starting physical therapy and need some shoes.
I opted for the London full shoe from the company’s website. I know my size and width. The company has not changed sizing so I am very confident when ordering. I look forward to wearing new comfy shoes so much.
I am always shocked at how I forget about the importance of breaking in these type of shoes. The cork sole has to mold to my feet and the sole is so stiff. Once I break them in, my Birks are the best shoe ever! So comfy and offers great support for my feet.
I am currently wearing the shoes for a short period of time to get the cork beds molded. I am going to gently bend the soles to loosen them up. I found there are many videos and blog posts devoted to breaking in these amazing shoes.
As I am breaking these shoes in it reminds me that all things worth having, doing and achieving are work. There is a process and order to it and there is no shortcuts. If you try to do a shortcut there are consequences…. for example if I just wore these new shoes for 8 hours straight I would need medical intervention!!
