Saturday Morning Coffee

We had a lovely week of sunshine and above normal temperatures. Snow nearly melted out of my yard, and it had the feeling of spring in the air. I knew that it wouldn’t last but it was a great reprieve from January’s cold and snow. This morning, I wake up to a fresh snow, but it is not supposed to snow long, and it really isn’t much. Spring is far off but I know it is coming. Winter hasn’t been brutal this year and I am glad. Don’t get me wrong we have had late winter storms in the past but we’re on the downhill slide. Daylight is starting to get longer, and I saw on the news that the bears have rolled out of their winter’s sleep. All signs that I will be in my garden before long cleaning it up for the growing season.

I have spent less time on social media and more time doing exercise. I have spent more time working on my projects of cross stitch, knitting and piecing. Less time mindlessly watching videos on YouTube. I feel good about it and plan to continue more of this next week too. I am feeling less stressed, and I believe being online a little less is good for me. I have a couple of brain games I like to play, and they are fun yet a little brain exercise too.

I have no teams in the Super Bowl, but I am going to watch the game as I do every year. I plan to get a couple of snacks and see if there are any commercials that are epic. It’s a fun thing to do on a Sunday in February.

I am enjoying a health app on my phone that my insurance pays for it is called Livongo now on Teledoc. It helps me track my sugars, weight, blood pressure and I can use the food log. I have access to a dietician to talk to and it also has exercise ideas. There is also a self-guided mental health section called My Strength that has activities and learning to do. I have used this last year but less intensely. My new insurance this year also pays for it, so I am going to use it to its fullest capability. If your insurance company has a program like this, you should check it out! If you have a qualifying health condition, they will email you invitations. I was hesitant at first but glad I took the chance.

Off to get my coffee and start my day,

Vicki

  1. That is a very interesting observation about the impact of less social media! We could all probably do with lots less so it’s such a great reminder to declutter in that area of life as well. I don’t have TV so YouTube fills in the gaps when I need it. But have you noticed the plethora of FlossTubes? It’s overwhelming so I have whittled down to my favorite 5 and ignoring the rest. I am so not a sports fan of any kind so I am just looking forward to more sewing time tomorrow. I have still not put together a shelf I bought for my sewing room. I got caught up in finishing a few projects to help clear some space. Then noticed Karen Brown just did a video on just that describing it as a gift of time to ourselves. I just love that idea!
Enjoy game day! I’ll join the spirit of the day with some yummy snacks inside my warm house. We are freezing here (mid 50’s- LOL).

    • I need to check out Karen’s video! I love the idea of giving ourselves the gift of time. I never used to think it was important! I have noticed alllll the flosstubes and I just couldn’t keep up. So I tend to just watch FQS. I am loving have some space to breathe in my schedule and time to do important things without rushing.
