Saturday Morning Coffee

I woke up to a little dusting of snow on everything outside. It’s really cold and grey this morning. It has been a lovely spring week of rain, wind, sunshine and the world waking up from a long winter. I see some growth in the garden and the trees really want to leaf out soon.

I have been sewing hexies this week. I have an idea to make a quilt with a flower theme. It is going to be a small quilt to hang on my door at work.

I opened my Etsy Shop this week and it contains kits to make these EPP flowers. I am thinking about glue basting kits together because that may be more appealing to people. What do you think? I was thinking people may like the convenience of pre-basted hexies.

I would love some feedback on the shop!

I took a free mixed media class online this week. I spent time working on a lay out. It is still not finished. I learned that you need the right product to get yours to look like the instructors however, I used what I had and this is what I have so far. This is a few hours of work so far. I keep telling myself a quote I heard this week: Hurry forgets but Slowness remembers. I have work to fill in the background (which I should have done first a newbie mistake) and finishing touches but here is what I have so far:

I am very excited because I am doing two things tomorrow that I have been wanting to do all winter! I have been connecting with friends, the first thing, and I learned of an artist that is offering fused glass classes, and taking a class is the sercond thing! A friend and I are taking a class together tomorrow. We are making fused glass charms. I have always wanted to make fused glass since I saw an artist do this on a craft show in the 90s! I really am excited to find a place where I can take classes at an artist’s studio. I look forward to taking a series of classes from her if this goes well. I will post some pics next week but I will have to have the pieces picked up later after they are put in the kiln!

I am going to tackle one closet today for spring cleaning. I am preparing for our annual spring junk clean up in May. That is the time of year where you can take items to the curb for pick up for disposal. I have boxes of items that can’t be donated and are literal garbage. I am confident that anything worth something will be sorted through and taken by the pickers. So much is recycled and not in the landfill by the time pick up happens, I feel better that some items may find new homes.

My coffee is now brewed and I am going to enjoy a cup! Have a great weekend!!
