Oh my, of the last 3 days of the 4 day holiday weekend, I have had all 3 rain. So, it has been perfect for skipping any gardening plans and jumping straight into the sewing room. I have been doing a sew along with the Facebook Group and I cut out and arranged the pieces or “chips” and on the Fourth of July I sewed the Family sized Potato Chips quilt together! Here is the Free pattern From Sew Yeah quilting:

Here is my quilt! You can definitely sew this in a day , 8 hours! I did mine in less than 6 over a couple of days.

I have a stash of black and white fabrics that I think would look great for this quilt. It will be really fun to long arm. I highly recommend this as a stash buster, charity quilt, kids quilt or a novice quilters first quilt. You can also use up large scale prints. I have seen people make this from small strips and make blocks out of it but so many seams!
I took a quilt off the frame that my Mom pieced:

And I loaded my Spooky and Sweet quilt. I really want to hang it up on my door at work for Halloween!

I have been puttering at knitting my shawl and I got out my Lori Holt Stitch card N to finish. I want to wrap up UFO’s and Wips because I am starting new projects this month. I am loving the time off to get a big boost to my making and feeling accomplished. My energy seems to be returning and I am making the most of it without over doing it.
I have a 3 day weekend next weekend too and have so many things to keep working on! This week was the starts of the FQS Star of Wonder quilt. I decided to use my Lori Holt fq stash. I will say that there is a cutting error in the fabrics to cut in the first clue. So just know that and watch FQS video to see what the block is supposed to look like! This is another stash buster and I am not doing it in red, green and white like this Christmas coloration. It is a mystery however the next clues are visible if you look carefully at the thumbnail. I am a Fat Quarter Shop addict these days!
I have some special yarn coming and I am going to start crocheting granny squares because I am tired of knitting my wrap. I am putting it up for a little as it is getting big and warm to knit. More to come on this.
I have been really working on a creative life with loads of mindfulness in it. I think that it is really easy to feel like every day is Ground Hog’s Day and start to feel like you are just going on autopilot. I want to really look for the extraordinary in the mundane because that is exactly how my work week goes and when I am home I don’t need to “think” about my established routines to keep the house and meals. I really feel like I have achieved the slow living I have alwasy been striving for. Now to keep planning little adventures like our 4th of July nature drive. We saw so many babies. Here is a little video I made. If you want to see the pictures you can see them on IG or FB.
Off to work on my projects and go check the mail for my FQS delivery!!
