Some chilly days dipping down below freezing to today’s forecast of 70 degrees, what a week of wild weather! We have been squeezing out more sunny days than I can ever remember for October! I am loving it and enjoying the sun because it sets early, and the nights are long. I am really soaking it up as much of the sun’s rays as I can because I won’t be able to soon.

I am really excited to finish a few things up this month. I have a few more apples for my door quilt then sew it together.

I have a few more stitches on the homestretch of my Halloween cross stitch

And I decided to crochet a white chenille pumpkin because why not? pic soon

I have started sewing the Family Favorites quilt blocks and need to get nice pictures for this month’s blocks. Then tackle the mountain of items that needs to be finished.

I decided to get some help around the house to free me up to be able to get to the finishes. I mean all of the finishes from the quilt tops that are languishing to be quilted, to binding to final finishes on cross stitch and the most dreaded task of all: Cleaning out the closets and decluttering the house. I really am looking forward to not spending all of my energy doing the heavy cleaning and being able to put that energy towards other things.

I want to redecorate because I am really tired of what I have. I would like to scale it back a little and find homes for all the things I want to keep. Then get help putting the rest either in storage or maybe have a sale with one of the estate sale businesses in town. I am looking at a really long term plan but I need to chip away at it slowly. I have spent a lot of time thinking about it and now want to put it into action.

When I read the happiness project years ago, I went through each room in this house and decluttered, reset it, deep cleaned it to make it fresh. Outer order, Inner calm is a mantra Gretchen Rubin had in that book. I want to do that again but with a little help from my husband and a housekeeper. I don’t have that kind of energy and strength with long covid to do it all alone.

But that’s ok! I think I have learned a thing or two over the past couple of years and that is sometimes we can’t do it all by ourselves. Honestly, I never could. I am putting into action all of the things I have learned from all of the books I have read, methods I have tried and put it into action.

So, you know my winter project, do you have any?

Vicki
