Saturday Morning Coffee

The word of the day is snow. We did in fact, get 24 inches of snow since Thanksgiving and more to come today through tomorrow. I am pleased we had Thanksgiving with the family last weekend because since Thursday I have been home and not much of a chance to go anywhere. So glad we had no travel plans.

My nephew did a fantastic job setting the table and cooking a fabulous meal. I had a wonderful time. At home we had scalloped Potatoes and Ham for our Thanksgiving dinner and watched football. I did some knitting, too. My husband and I had a great day.

I have made some preparations for for the door decorating contest at work next week. I have my Star of Wonder ready to hang. I made a gingerbread house garland with Lowes paint chips , saw on TikTok, and pulled out the brown paper bag houses from last year. Let me show you what I have so far.

It will be cute when it is done.

I have been enjoying the long weekend from work doing the usual. I have loaded a queen sized quilt for a friend, did a little knitting, started a slow stitching cottage and I spent time being very careful and precise for the Lori Holt stitchy star. Here is block 1 from the book. I cannot believe that I was able to sew it with all the points preserved. So glad I went to the Lori Holt club and talked to the LQS owner about why my blocks were such a hot mess. I am fully starting over and doing all the things- press fabric and starch it. Cut one piece at a time most carefully and using the best 1/4 inch seam allowance to sew. I am also making sure to square up each unit before assembly. I think part of the problem is that I incorrectly used my square up ruler and made them wonky when sewing this earlier this year.

So the word of the day is patience. I haven’t been out of the house since I came home from work Wednesday. My husband got the tractor snowblower on yesterday and today he will probably not hunt and spend the day home getting the driveway opened up. I don’t have to urgently get groceries but once we can get out I think we will pick up some things. Otherwise, I am going to watch more football, craft and maybe work on more learning for a drawing tablet I am trying to learn to use as a review product for the podcast. It isn’t a plug and play device like I thought it would be. I shall persevere for a week or two and try to learn to use it before I send it back as arranged.

Have a great day! My coffee is ready and I am going to enjoy this cup!
