Saturday Morning Coffee

Woke up to a strange sound this morning, a very hard rain and wind hitting the house. I was a little disoriented for a min because it’s been months since we had rain let alone a storm. It is a great sign of spring coming and melting the snow. I am welcoming the rain and warmer temps because that means I will be able to putter in my flower garden before long.

This week was so influenced by both the full moon and the lunar eclipse. Work was very busy, full of unusual things and lots of work. As a nurse, I totally believe in the full moon and other celestial events influencing patients. I was glad 5pm came on Friday because it was a week that was unrelenting in its waves of things to do and weird problems, over and over again. I expect next week to be less busy and more manageable.

I have been working on an embroidery hoop art by Bz Creations. It is a Lord of the Rings quote All who wander are not lost. I love her pattern and directions. Here is a link to her etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BZCreationsShop?msockid=05cc90823ad96da8121b9e343b716ccf

I have also done a daily Wonder habit collage for my 100-day art project. I am loving this project because it is upcycling items I have or have found; a few minutes a morning and I have made some collages I really like! Here are a few from this week.

The next 20 prompts are posted and they are community focused so I am looking forward to doing them!

I am really working on living a slow simple life this weekend. I am making a shopping list and trying to cook from a menu to see if it less expensive, but way less convenient, than my food subscription boxes. I don’t like how much time and energy I am having to put into meal planning and the shopping list– I can tell you that right now. I am thinking we will resume Hello Fresh for next week. I hate cooking and devoting so much time to something I don’t enjoy at all but I did find some great TikToks on making simple low cost meals with recipes. I shall screen shot those and compile my list from them.

I have been really thinking about how much I buy at times without plan or purpose. I am really focusing on using up what I have and finishing things. Now to finish things, I need to buy items like backing, batting or background. I may need to buy a few items here and there for other projects, but I am resisting the urge to buy more. I am shopping my stash for the quilt guild challenge of color Card 45 and I think I have the colors. I will show you my fabrics once I pull them.

I hope to hoop frame and hang some cross stitch and embroidery projects today and load a quilt on the frame. I am avoiding downtown for the big St Patrick’s day parade and sales. Don’t feel like being in crowds of people today. I also passed on going to the Irish Festival in Clare, MI as my husband is judging the Strongman event. Same reasons plus I AM SO TIRED from having Covid. It’s shocking how long these symptoms linger for me.

Today is Long Covid awareness day. I am really wanting to help make people aware and not a day goes by since my diagnosis that I am no impacted by Long Covid. I have been able to recover enough to go back to work but my life is very different. I really feel for those who are completely disabled.

So off to brew my coffee and have a healthy breakfast. I really would like an Irish coffee and a pastry today but I am resisting such temptations!

Have a great Saturday and Happy St Patrick’s Day to all!

Vicki
