This week I decided I needed a day off from work. I wasn’t feeling the greatest, I haven’t for over a week, and I also just needed a day to get a few things done. I really enjoyed the day off.
I was able to catch up on some chores like laundry and weeding the garden. I was able to record a podcast. It was a beautiful day to enjoy being outside and just relax. I am finding it is harder and harder to squeeze these things in and around my job and weekends are so jammed packed with chores, grocery shopping, going places and resting.
I went to Hobby Lobby to find some watercolors and mixed media journals to start another art journal, it will be a summer of Wonder theme. I found these watercolors were ones that I could use pen over the top of. I plan to try a few other experiments like alcohol on the paints to get some other looks for my art journal. It was a lot of fun.

I also loaded a quilt on the long arm. I am working with a friend on an art quilt that will go in a little show. It has been so much fun to work on.
It was a great to take a day off just to have a mental and physical recouperation day. I have a day off next week for Juneteenth and I plan to spend it in a similar fashion! Time to create things and time to tidy up all in balance. I need these more often.
I got my 25 year service award at work yesterday for longevity. It was our annual meeting where awards are given out for merit, some training and certificates of appreciation were given. I happened to get two certificates with nice things said in their nomination. I don’t hear things about my job often and when you do it isn’t often kind words , more of the things that you need to do better, faster or more of. It was very nice and the kinds words were touching. My 25 year service award was a engraved clock and a small check for their appreciation. I will try to take a picture of it when I am back in the office.

I can’t believe I have worked there for 25 years, honestly. It’s a good place to work but it is also a frustrating place to work with it’s quirks and hiccups. I have been seriously talking about retiring early and that would be in 3 years. I will have time to pivot and, in my retirement, try other jobs or fill my time with volunteering, some little vacations or teaching quilt classes. Who knows what time will bring but it is fun to think about. One more of my friends retired yesterday, and it leaves only one or two people who are still working that have been there as long or longer than me. I am a little jealous honestly, lol.
We are home this weekend and I am looking forward to just going where the energy takes me. I won’t be writing a blog next Saturday because we will be out of town for the weekend at a Highland game and a play so I will catch up with you on a different day of the week.
