What a week! I had a busy work week and squeezing everything into 4 days is always a challenge. Starting yesterday, July 4th I am on vacation until July 14. I am so ready for a vacation. It has been a difficult few months since I last had a vacation and I am having a burned out feeling at work. And it feels like I have had a lot of extra work on the weekends like emptying the storage unit last weekend, highland games, the excessive heat, spring clean up, and working hard to get my last customer quilts done.

I had a vacation in April after the ice storm and our kids met us in Gatlinburg. Last fall we did our out west road trip and hit many National Parks. This year we are not going to spend as much money because those vacations were financed by my husbands 25 year safe driving award. This vacation we are starting in Paradise, Michigan and ending in Hell, Michigan. Want to know more about our destination? They have a website: https://www.gotohellmi.com/

I am planning a lot of tourist things and just have a lot of fun. We need time to just relax and get out of town. We are leaving Tuesday because it is the 60th annual Alpenfest. Its a festival one that they block the downtown area and detour traffic in front of my house. They expect nearly 100,000 people in our tiny town. Between the noise of the 4th, and then the noise of the detour as well as people not letting us in and out of our driveway we decided to Hell with it were not even going to be home. We will do this funny trip.

We got the idea from a YouTube video, and my grandma. She did this trip when I was a kid. I remember the joke MIchigan is the only state that you can go to Hell and Paradise in one day. They are about 5.5 hours apart. After the video, I said I always wanted to do that trip like my Grandma and my husband said it would be the perfect Alpenfest getaway trip. We are also trying to reel in spending because we have decided unless anything horrific happens to our retirement moneys we are retiring from our jobs in 3 years.

I am very proud of how my Stardust sampler turned out, mistakes and all. I framed it and Here are the Final Results!

I have knitted a few blocks for my new knitted blanket project. It is color work and I love this Lion 24/7 yarn!

So glad that we got the tractor up and running for summer, finally. Both back tires had the valve stems rust off and then all of the calcium chloride that was in them for balast leaked all over. We had to have 2 different repairs on them because it couldn’t happen at the same time! Yesterday my husband was able to get the tired on, add the mowing deck and the little rake. He raked the yard and we are in business for lawn and garden work. We had to borrow a lawn mower to mow the yard once!

We did get ice cream yesterday. We spent the day home, and I saw the neighbor’s fireworks over the past couple of days. Today, I am going to visit my parents. Tomorrow and Monday are going to be quilting at home then packing for the road trip. I hope to get a quilt loaded and a podcast recorded before we go. I have a lot to talk about for the podcast and I am excited to share!

I will probably do a late post next weekend because we will still be on the road.

Have a great week!

Vicki
