Saturday Morning Coffee

After a week of vacation, and then a week of work, things are settling into the weekly ebb and flow around here. We had really hot days, and really smoky days and one cold day that was in the 60s last week. I expect it to be more seasonal temps this week and even some rain.

Flower garden is doing very well with all the heat and rain. I am letting it do it’s thing right now, a little weeding when its cooler. I am sitting on the patio enjoying the summer after work. We are in the peak of daylily blooms, phlox, salvia, lavender, bee balm, hostas and sedum are all blooming. Loads of bees and birds stopping by the garden. I hope to see a humming bird with all the blooms soon.

I have been rested up and feel good after our adventure. You can see all the places we went on Instagram or Facebook, or a couple of shorts on YouTube. It was fun seeing places I haven’t been to in years and then great to explore new places. I think people would find spending more time in nature, weather it is in your own back yard, a city/county park, state or national park, folks would feel so much better in their health as well as mental health. I find exploring parks a lot of fun even though I can’t walk trails or hike mountains, those opportunities are there for those who can. I am impressed with the amount of work that parks have done to make them more accessible to people who have mobility issues or are in wheelchairs. I have come to appreciate all of the little museums and education opportunities that are present in the larger parks because I have come to realize not everyone had a childhood like mine, where I grew up watching the local animals and marveling at the cycles of plants in nature. Bravo to those parks!

I have not worked on one craft project or creative thing in two weeks. I think I must have been a little burned out on all of that too, and now I feel refreshed and ready to load a quilt on the frame, get my knitting back out and use a new product in my studio to trace some gorgeous embroidery pieces from a book I am previewing that I will talk more about in a podcast/blog. Ps It’s a very beautiful with a popular theme
