This year summer ended abruptly. Like a switch was flipped and for the past week it has been 60 degrees, cold at night in the 40s and the sun is setting earlier and earlier. I have been wearing warmer clothes and not needed the air conditioning nearly as much. Leaves are slowing changing and I think we will be in a colorful fall pretty soon this year.

I decided to keep myself busy this fall because in winter it’s difficult to leave home. So I am taking a virtual art journal class from Alisa Burke on art journaling your emotions. I have done a few classes and this is what I have so far

Curiosity

Wonder

I have done a couple of layouts in my art journal and I am please with the progress I am making. Taking a class has been wonderful and I would recommend Alisa’s class. Here is her YouTube channel where you can see her work and links to her classes:

I have finished my Brightly quilt from the Family Favorites Book and here it is:

So of course I had to start another quilt along with my friend Angel at Halo Inspirations. This is a free quilt along and you can find the patterns here: https://www.haloinspired.com/blog

Plus each pattern drop there is a video tutorial on her You Tube channel. She has a lovely quilt shop also where you can buy the Foundation paper piecing pads that I am using for flying geese and some of the block centers. Here is the color version of the quilt and my first block with some sashing ideas

This fall was going to be the year that I converted my china cabinet to black light to focus on my depression glass that is yellow. I was convinced it was uranium ware. Uh, I found out it is not. I do have some uranium ware and it will be featured in my new set up in the china cabinet with the black light strips that I bought. Now I am on a quest to find more glowing glass, rocks and things that will look cool in my set up.

I am finding that the old green glass, Vaseline glass and some old Victorian glass will glow, and I will pick some up thrifting. I can’t pay high prices and honestly it is the fun of the hunt for a bargain.

Have a great week! I plan to upload a podcast soon so watch for that and I will talk about these topics more in depth

Be creative,

Vicki
