It is dark early in the morning and early in the evening. I am in what I call the darkest days of the year with long nights and short days. I have been feeling a little lower in energy after work and I want to go to bed way too early but I am pushing myself to stay up to 930 so I am not up at 330 or 4. With the new mattress we bought a few months ago I am sleeping so well that I could lay in bed for way too long.
The furnace is running and the house is cozy. I have been turning on my Halloween lights and enjoying them for a few hours a day. I am also embracing comfy cozy, hygge, each day. I have been crocheting grannies for a cardigan. I have been drinking hot cinnamon tea from Harney and Sons. I have been doing stretches and gentle qi gong. And tomorrow were going to the apple farm and petting zoo. Gotta shoot the apple cannons! Love this fall tradition and we are meeting our son for the day.
Today is my last pottery class for this beginner series. I am picking up my finished pieces. I have made all the things I could squeeze out of a 25-pound clay lump. I have a few pieces drying but not sure any will be ready to glaze today. I will go back another time to glaze when they are done. I am excited to see what my imperfect things look like all together as a collection. Pottery is such fun, and I enjoyed it so much I will definitely take more classes.
I sewed one block for the Fantabulous Star quilt along you can see the details in my previous post but here is the progress of blocks so far!
It has been a long, hard work week. I got me thinking about things I want to do over the winter and I decided that the sewing and craft room has to change. It is too cluttered, and I need to take it to a level of order, organization and less things. I am doing another deep look at all of the fabric I have and what I am not going to use needs to go one way or another. I need to pare down what is in that space and re organize it all. I can’t think in there right now and if I am going to finish my Sew Happy quilt, I need to be able to think since it is a difficult pattern to follow.
I can’t believe it is Oct 25th. This fall has been full of wonderful adventures in pottery and now I will have to get ready for the long winter and hygge season.
