Saturday Morning Coffee

Last weekend I bought a pour over coffee making system. I decided after the sink would not drain in the kitchen that I needed a coffee system with a filter to capture all the grounds and mess. It is easy to use, clean and no grounds hit the sink.

But it is not the same as a French press. The coffee is not as robust in flavor and I believe less in caffeine. I am getting used to the system because it is faster to make a cup and the coffee has great flavor. I need to drink more of it in the morning. Like the full 36 ounces this pot holds. There are worse ways to start a morning. I have been putting coffee in a to go cup and take it to work.

I have started my common place book. It is adorable and I am using my hamsa hands, that I made in the fall, as inspiration for each page’s collection of quotes. It is at my desk and when I have my break I work in it.

I have been knitting on my red hat. I am getting to be a better knitter by reading different patterns and carefully looking up terms whenI don’t know what they mean. I had to put notes on the pattern so I don’t miss something important. I hope that when I get the rib knit done it will really go fast. I needed to understand the decrease, so it has the proper shape. Unlike the purple yarn hat that got ripped out.

I have been making progress on decluttering my sewing room and reorganizing it. I have it nearly finished. I decided that I need to get a storage cabinet for the front porch to hold a few items that don’t need to be in my sewing/crafty space. I am contemplating putting my Cricut and all its accessories in that cabinet to free up space. Once the old furniture on the porch is gone then I can complete the project.

And that’s where I am in so many things, I need to complete projects. I am trying to make 2026 the year I knuckle down and finish them. I need to load a quilt this weekend and add a binding to a quilt languishing in the pile to be finished. I have hand towels to finish crocheting toppers on. I do have quilt tops to be quilted too.

I am just slowly working on items as I can in my 15 min a day strategy. I am getting off my phone more and being more focused on what I am working on. My good old strategy that works, consistency. A little time spent every day. It is how I do everything from crafts to exercise, chores to projects at work. A little intense focus time every day for only 15 minutes really is a game changer!
