Winter came back yesterday and unexpectedly dropped 6 inches of snow during the day, more came overnight and we’re under a winter weather advisory this entire weekend. Good thing we got our errands run and aren’t going far today or tomorrow.
This week I have enjoyed moments in the sun. Literally. Sunshine visited and gave everyone a dose of radiant beams. People love seeing the sun in February around here and everyone had a spring in their step, a smile on their face and laughter in their heart. It’s a little prelude to spring and makes the return of the snow a little easier knowing it won’t be long and it will be gone.
I sat in my sewing room basking in the sunshine while sewing some seams. I sewed the quilt along block. I starting cutting out the pieces of a bag we are making in quilt guild beginning of March. This weekend I want to start quilting the pieces on the soft and stable I bought. I have never used it before but it was recommended, or Bosal, for a firmer bag vs. batting. We will see how it quilts up.
I have been knitting in the evenings while watching the Olympics. I love sport and the drama that ensues. I also love so many athletes have found knitting and crocheting as a relaxing activity. Have you seen some of the knits the athletes are wearing? Inspiring almost as much as the competition. The exciting sport this weekend is mens hockey as the USA made the gold medal game. It’s been thrilling to watch this whole Olympics.
I am really enjoying some time off work last weekend and this weekend. I have been shopping at Costco twice . I bought 2 new outfits for work..I actually tried clothes on! I am proud of myself for taking time to get what fit !
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary last weekend by watching our son in a play, and hockey the next day. I can’t believe that this anniversary was a big number! And that means my birthday this spring is the big 60. Wow. But I am pondering how I want to celebrate it. And ideas to mark the year.
I also was born in the year of the fire horse and this is the year of the fire horse according to the lunar new year. It deserves to have something fun for the occasion and kick off to a phenomenal year for me.
Any ideas for turning 60? I know I will be out of town that weekend at a highland game but ideas on marking your 60th year. I made a jubilee quilt for my 50th that looked like emeralds, my birthstone.
