Saturday Morning Coffee

This week I have been working on being more consistent in my daily routine. The boring things that need to be done and fit in some time doing things I like to do. It is coming along but I haven’t been able to get my pre Covid routine back where I would be able to fit in everything. I have been trying to recapture that over the past year.

I thought I probably need to let that idea go. I have changed since then and my life has had subtle changes. I want to exercise and get quilting time in each day and I have failed misterably at that. The more I have other people helping me with chores and projects around the house, the less I seem to get done. It is a most odd thing. It has been nearly three years since I had Covid/long Covid and this is one area of my life that hasn’t returned to what it was. My energy. It is much better but not what it was. I have accepted it but once in a while I think I should be back to where I was.

I have been adding more exercises and movement during the day. I have been taking care of myself and doing some creative things every day like knitting or crocheting. I think I will start a new cross-stitch pattern I purchased with all the floss this weekend. It is a pretty spring pattern that makes me very happy. So, more hand work and less sitting at a machine is where I am spending time these days. I sit at a computer all day so a nice hands-on time of making daily has suited my life better at this moment.

I am trying to get stronger by walking more. I hope to walk outside when the snow melts. I do have a goal and that is going to Paducah AQS quilt show in April. I need to walk more to prep for that show. I can pace myself at the show because I will have 2.5 days to walk it and take a hand stitching class. I am getting excited about the trip!

I am happy to say that my sewing/crafting room declutter has really come along. It has been a few months since I started the project. I am now organizing the storage I have to maximize it’s potential. I keep working on that a little at a time also. I can walk through the small space and sew without feeling crowded. I have some donation boxes I hope to get to the Goodwill this weekend and that will make it more spacious.

I am thinking about my milestone birthday in May and I think I want to do 6 in 60. I have a few ideas already but I don’t want to over plan it. But these are 6 things I have always wanted to do and never tried.

  1. AQS quilt show in Paducah
  2. Take a pottery class making something I have never made before
  3. Continue making my common place books and learn about them in my self curriculum studies
  4. Find a new art or craft class to take this year
  5. Write more ?
  6. Wild card

I found a great blog post about turning 60 and I linked to it. I was asked by a friend if I listened to the podcast associated with the blog and I hadn’t but I put that link in the podcast to come back to and explore more thoroughly. I started a podcast yesterday and her site has a lot of great articles on your life over 50. I am enjoying the content so far. Maybe you would too: https://suzyrosenstein.com/

I decided to not jump in on the 100 day project this year. I am working on making daily, finding my peace daily, and getting through each day with my little routines. I think that and my ideas for 6 in 60 are all my energy levels can do. And to be honest looking back at what I wrote, it is enough for one person to do each day!

Have a great week and take time to create every day!
