We went to an outdoor wedding this weekend. It was a lovely wedding. The setting was splendid, the rain held off!!!

I had a great time and so did my son and his girlfriend. My husband attended but he did want a picture taken, lol.

My friend is the mother of the groom. She made all the flowers and arrangements. I loved them and the centerpiece turned out to be soooo cute. Weddings are events that I don’t go to often but to see a couple pledge a lifetime together, it is very special. I pray the new couple finds both happiness and jobs now that they are finished with college. I have to say that couples getting married look younger every year, wait must be me getting older.

I bought this book for inspiration by the little modern blocks and because Angela Walters free motion quilted all the quilts. I love her work. I found it so inspiring I have launched my long arm quilting in this modern style.

Well, sad to say that My Modern Michigan did not make the quilt show in Grand Rapids. I am very proud of this piece. It is inspired to represent my home state. I love the woods, the windmills, curvy roads with tourists driving north, the Water, the logs in the Great Lakes representing my logging ancestors, stars and the Northern lights that are all here in this little quilt. I did lots of little quilting and I even mitered the corners (not pictured) for this quilt. So here is it’s blog debut in full. A beginning of finding my quilting voice, modern fusion.

My summer will focus on finishing tops of mine that need to be quilted. A star BOM that needs to be sewn and the assortment of Farmers wife blocks need to be sewn into a top, and then I can look ahead to making some of the blocks out of the book pictured above. Tula’s inspiration may not wait that long, haha. Maybe a block or two inbetween projects!
