Free Mystery Quilt Along!! I love them and this is a mystery sampler designed to be a skill builder so everyone (including beginners) can join in! You will revist many skills that are essential for making most quilts! Let’s practice our accuracy skills, 1/4 inch seams, color play and start planning our quilting from the very beginning. Scrappy blocks would be awesome! I would suggest making all the connector blocks from the same fabrics for consistency in the design. The connector block has been revealed and you can see this in week 2. This Mystery Quilt even has a name– New Beginnings! I like starting a brand new year with lots of goals and motivation. Or if you are in the mid winter doldrums or funk this may be just the solution to regain your creative mojo!

Friendship Star

Cut 4 background squares 4 ½ inches
Cut 1 red center square 4 ½ inches
Cut 2 background color squares 4 7/8 inches
Cut 2 grey squares 4 7/8 inches

Make Half Square triangles. Draw a diagonal line on the background color that is 4 7/8 inch and match up with the grey squares that are 4 7/8 ,  right sides together. Sew ¼ inch off of the diagonal line on Both sides of the diagonal. Cut on the drawn diagonal , press. Square up to 4 ½ inches
Now just lay all the patches that are 4 1/2 inches  in the arrangement as in the photo. Be careful your star points are going the right direction!

Now this is the last block in the mystery quilt. Lay out your blocks with a snow ball in between each pieced block. Refer to the photo above for the arrangement. I just kept moving the sampler pieces around until I was pleased with the look .
Thanks for joining us for the mystery quilt! I would love to hear from you as you finish your quilt!
