This
This past week was my June staycation. We did a ton of things around the house and went on a few adventures. I got all the things done that I wanted to and feel accomplished.
First we went to the car races in Berlin, Mi. I had a great time and the little sprint cars were my favorite. This is a very nice race track that we have never have been to and they put on a very professionally curated show. It was the 80s night and they had a band, too. I enjoyed this night with our son and his fiancé, very much!
The next day, we went to the Back to the Bricks promotional car show. I love looking at old cars and I want a mustang. It was a perfect day for looking at cars. The cars made a trip from Flint to Machinaw City and back spreading all the information about the huge Back to the Bricks Car show in Flint. It is in August on the old brick streets. This was great…. it was free and the perfect amount of cars to enjoy.
We also did some yard and home maintenance. Chain saw out to cut the jungle of tree branches down and the fairy gardens were set. Click on the photos to hear the chainsaw, lol! Operation curb appeal is underway, phase one complete, replanted the beds, mulched and got the yard straightened out.
We picked a beautiful day to visit Fayette , Michigan. It is an old mining village that has been preserved for all to see. I had never been here before and the views are breathtaking of the harbor and Lake Michigan with the cliffs in the background. I enjoyed the old buildings and imagined life here when it was a mining town.
Then we ended the week with the Gaylord Highland Games. Not a banner day for me to safely take photos. I loved seeing the planes from the airshow make their turns over the field to return to the airport. My husband had a great time, an ok day of competing and all in all a successful games…. no one got hurt! 🙂
I am feeling pretty good about what we accomplished. Of course there is always more to do . Paint trim, get a new front screen door, etc.
I am taking today to relax, and prepare to get back to reality! I am going to go to the grocery store , do laundry and then quilt. All in all a really nice time off from work and look forward to my next staycation in August. Stay tuned for Our Creative Souls for a recap of all the creating I did on my staycation.
