New Year’s Day!

2018 was a great year! I made and wrote patterns for 4 quilts. I pieced 4 more. I quilted several and didn’t get a proper count of them all. I believe I quilted fewer customer quilts this year but I was able to get most of mine done! I think I did about 20 long arming projects from reviewing my social media.

2018 was a year of the usual things for the first half of the year. I was working on quilt patterns, wrote our first Zine for Our Creative souls and rehabbed my arthritic hip for months. Summer came and my husband participated in 8 Highland games and I attended 7. I went to the AQS quilt show and over Christmas vacation we went to Virginia Beach to see our grandkids.

The Biggest most wonderful thing that happened this year was our Youngest was married in August. We had the best time at the wedding! It was beautiful and a great time to see all of our family together. Mother of the groom was super cool.

Then the interesting things happened… the roof leaked and that set in motion the Unexpected Renovation of this old house. The reno is nearly done. The roof is on. All that is left is the bathroom needs a bit of finishing, flooring, painting and if there is money move the laundry to the main floor mud room. The details will take all winter to finish I am sure.

The sad is several close people in my friends and family circle had cancer battles, diagnosis and walking through it. That has been difficult and draining but my part has been determined and completed.

So 2019 should shape up to be a banner year! I am focusing my quilting on the long arming part, podcasting, getting my little store going and hopefully another Our Creative Soul Zine in a few months. A computer crash has delayed the next one for a little bit.

I am doing a 30 day yoga challenge on YouTube with Yoga by Adrianne. I need to take better care of myself. I need to get my labs better. I need to be able to walk so I need to rehab my hip more and lose weight. I also need to get an appointment with a specialist if all of that fails to bring improvement in my ability to move and function.

lI did walk 6 miles at Christmas Town, Busch Garden in Williamsbury, Va. What a great time we had. Click on the link below if you are interested in pictures.

I have a new phone and camera. So 2019 is the year of taking better pictures. I want to learn new things like learning to make sourdough bread, art journal and make art quilts.

2019 I look forward to in anticipation. I believe that it will bring so many interesting people, wonderful opportunities and time to create some amazing things.

Quilt on,

Vicki
