Saturday Morning Coffee

After getting 11 inches of snow in 24 hours earlier in the week, it’s melting. I am thrilled its warming up a little, I am not ready for winter at all. We put the bird feeders up just before the snow and the birds were happy. I have the fairy garden to pickup for the winter months on my list of things to do today and if it dries out a little our leaves that have finally started to fall may get some raked up. I have some tall stalks to cut in the garden but if the weather doesn’t cooperate that’s ok. They make interesting shapes in the winter months.

The days are short and the nights are long. Hygge season has begun. Candles are out. Quilts to snuggle under are on our chairs. Loom knitting hats and neck warmers is underway. I have found patterns for mittens. I ordered some pink tweed yarn and I am trying to decide what I want to make with it. Possibly a crochet granny square project. I have lovely task lighting so I am not trying to craft in the dark either before or after work!

November has arrived and I am just floored it is here already. This year has had so many moment where is dragged along and yet so much that flew by like we were living in fast motion. I had a great week at work and got the big project done. The bad news is that sickness is sweeping through the wing and it isn’t all Covid. I have done my best to not be exposed and doing tons of handwashing. I also did get a booster and flu shot last week. I hope that I stay well enough to enjoy my 4 day weekend next week! I have plans to make some things.

This weekend is the annual weekend of classes that Jennifer Maker does for Cricut enthusiasts. I took her classes last year and made so many fun things. I have learned so much already and I really want to try some of the projects I have seen this year! I love when creatives have free content and she is very generous with her free pattern and directions. Plus she is from Michigan and says OPE occasionally. I find that very endearing.

I am watching way too many YouTube videos on the Glowforge. I think I want to get one before I retire. Why, I have no idea but I think it would be so much fun to own one! The things you can make seem infinite.

Have a great weekend !

Vicki

  1. OMG! I am dreaming of a Glowforge, too. I saw one at Joann and realized how huge it was. Also, it needs to vent outside. I need a bigger studio! I hope you stay well. I also hope sick people at work stay home!

  2. Sounds like you are very prepared! We have the time change this evening so I had to dig out the lamp timers so I don’t come home to a dark house. My house is in complete chaos having to get ready for carpet in the 2 bedrooms. One of which will be my new sewing room. First ever in my whole life. Thinking of painting the walls a soft white for a clean palette for hanging quilts. Fall is quite a time of change. Your 4 day weekend sounds heavenly! Self care on the next level!
