Another week of 90 degree weather which has been record breaking heat for my little town here on the 45th parallel. It is supposed to cool off next week. The sun has been glorious. The very dry ground and vegetation are signs that we need rain but there is none in the forecast for the next 10 days. The garden is growing and loves the heat. I did plant drought resistant perennials. One or two are not doing well but will rebound when it starts raining.
We have been putting water in the bird bath twice a day. The birds are thirsty, and the water evaporates by noon. I do love seeing the birds and the water brings them in as we stop feeding them in May. I have more insects and wildlife coming into the garden, too. Even the neighborhood cat traveled through a few times.

Schools are starting to let out for the summer, graduation was last night, tourists are coming to town on the weekends and life gets very busy. Its officially summer. I want to try to savor the super short summer while it lasts because it is gone so quickly. I have been really practicing mindfulness and slow living.
I have been doing more slow stitching recently too. It’s perfect for summer. Trying to stay off my phone and see what is going on around me as well. I read a book by Dr Julie Smith, “things no one ever told me” and it was good. I have Live in 5 senses by Gretchin Rubin checked out of the library. Summer reading is always so fun.
Today we’re going to make brunch for our Son and hear how his High School reunion went last night. I can’t believe 10 years have passed since his graduation! Later today I plan to sew, long arm and plan out the fairy garden. I want to set it up tomorrow as it is supposed to be cooler. I haven’t been able to buy new houses but I am going to use what I have on hand and add to it over the summer.
Slow summer living this weekend and it is the best! Last weekend was all outside at the Highland games, and it was great also but very busy. Here is a little highlight reel of my husband’s competition
Peace, joy and happiness to you all,
Vicki
