Saturday Morning Coffee

One week into my summer theme of Music, Meditation and Making and I have done very well. I did forget to practice the mandolin a time or two. However, each time I played it I got better. I have been cross stitching and long arming for the making part and I have meditated once or twice a day all week! I feel great and off to a good start for my summer theme or 100 day project. You can read about it in last week’s post and hear more info on my recent podcast.

In fact, I am feeling so good I was able to tolerate exercising 3 times this week! I started a program through my commercial insurance that I was hesitant to do because I have not been successful with before and that is a health coaching program through Livongo. Its free for me because I have diabetes and I get unlimited amounts of test strips, a new glucometer, a scale and bp cuff. It blue tooth’s all the data to the company who uses it to give me trends. I also get coaching from a dietician and they have tons of educational articles you can access. I have been doing well with the program and have seen it’s benefits already. I am glad I put my concerns aside and joined.

We have had lovely soaking rains this week and the sun has returned. I have enjoyed this warm, sunny summer so much. It has been refreshing. We saw some Elk and deer out on our nature drive. We also discovered that one of the brakes on the truck is rubbing and we won’t be going on long drives in that until we can get it fixed.

I am going on an adventure to a sewing center I have never been to before this morning. They are having door prizes and give aways so I am so excited to go! I haven’t to a sewing center in a long time. Maybe I can win a prize and find another place to have my machines serviced. My friend uses this shop and sings it’s praises.

It’s graduation season and in Michigan we have Open Houses. We have many some years and none on others. We go to a party put on by the parents and they invite all their friends and associates as well as the graduates friends. You shower the new grad with gifts and money. I went to my cousins twins party last weekend and today is one of my friends kid. They are fun because you get to see friends and family, chat and usually eat good food.

I am off to get my morning coffee and head out to the sewing center!

  1. I joined a program through our health system too! I had the same hesitancy as well. I mean who doesn’t know it all after all these years of various diet/lifestyle tries! But a fresh start is always good. The accountability and fresh thinking is really what I needed.
I’m so glad to see the nature drives begin again! It kind of “making” since you are making memories and content to share! Enjoy your weekend and let us know how the sewing center visit went!

    • It was a very refreshing experience to join the coaching and I was expecting guilt shame and all the feels but it wasn’t like that at all!
The drive was amazing and the animals are doing well now with more water.
