100 Hexies 100 Days

For the past week I have been immersing myself in two things, hexagons and flowers. I love that August brings the apex of the flowers in my garden! I see all the flowers showing their bright colors and textures. On a good day, I can catch the scent of each one blooming as they work hard to attract pollinators.

August also brings an annual 100 days 100 Hexie event hosted by Sew Foxy Mama on Instagram/FB. You make one hexagon a day. This is the time of year I pull out my shoe box of epp, hexies and fabric chosen to be in hexagon flowers. I love making hexagons and epp at the same time as so many others! I get excited and inspired to see the hastag #100hexies100days2023 on Ig!!

I decided that this was a good time to reset inbetween quilts and do some other crafts. You can see the painting and fodder I am making for collage on Our Creative Souls however, I also made a upcycle project recently. I took saved Oui yogurt jars and rummaged through the craft stash for a box of pressed flowers I bought over a year ago. I used Mod Podge to made these adorable tealight holders. It was a lovely quick craft and really helped me examine the floral theme I have been in this summer.

I am finding that this has been the summer of feeling inspired to make things and find creative moments. It helps me be mindful and see the beauty in the ordinary and mundane. I don’t ever want to over look what is right in front of me!

Have a lovely day!

Vicki
