Saturday Morning Coffee

I think it is time to make some pumpkin bread. I bought a box mix and I think today is the day to make it. I haven’t bought flour in a long time because I rarely bake these days so a boxed bread will do. I really miss baked treats, so I am going to remedy that today. I have been thinking about getting my bread maker out, too. Need to put all of the ingredients on my grocery list. October seems to bring out the need for some baked goods and bread. Warm, crusty bread, yummmm.

Last weekend we did go to the apple farm and had a lot of fun. It has a little zoo, petting zoo and fall festivities. We always end in the farm shop buying apples, bakery treats, fudge and coffee. It was a lovely day. The apple pie squares were amazing!

I have sewn up my courthouse stairs blocks for the Petite Four QAL. I am using the 6-inch fpp pads by FQS. I decided to make all of mine from the same fabric. The paper makes sewing fun again!

We did see Elk on a drive Tues night. While we were out, the leaf color was very vibrant. However, I think that with all the wind and rain this week that the fall color will be ending soon. We will be moving into the end of fall season with the browns and grey skies, not my favorite time of year. That is where the comfort of baking and crafting comes in to save the day!

Tonight, we are planning a fancy dinner and watching a concert. I look forward to the adventure of it all. Always wonder if the band is going to sound as good as I remember them and I love eating out. I hope the restaurant lives up to all the hype!

Have a great Saturday!

  1. Darn! I was hoping for a recipe for good pumpkin bread. I had an abundance of pumpkins in my garden this year. I cooked up and puréed one and got 20 cups! I’ve made 2 pies and a double batch of muffins but still have 16 cups of puree in the freezer

  2. It does seem like we crave something each season that awakens some of our senses if not all! I have been thinking about baking too. A coworker shared a mini pumpkin pie with me and it was delicious! Still too hot here to turn on the oven so I’m a little jealous of your cooler weather. I seem to recall a few of your Halloweens with an early snow? Enjoy your date night and I bet the dinner will be great!

    • It’s is true that we sometimes have had a first snow by now! I am soaking in the extended fall season. It is really quite amazing how each season brings its little traditions and cylical chores. We need to start to prepare for winter soon and I don’t want to pick up the fairy garden!
