Saturday Morning Coffee

This was a week where the days seemed to move so slowly but the week went very fast. I have been keeping busy with the usual. But I had 2 physical therapy appointments to work on my general weakness and to address the leg pain. They want to have me use the pool next week to walk in it and I have nothing to wear. I quickly ordered a swimsuit and hopefully it will be here as promised so I have something to wear for the first pool session. I have to say I am sore and tired, but it is different that the leg pain and fatigue I was experiencing. I hope this will jump start my ability to use our garage gym because right now everything is too hard.

I am happy to say by the end of Stitchtober I had 5 of the 6 Autumn Days Ornaments done. I am working on the last one, a little fall tree. Then the rest of the motifs will be stitched next year into a pillow top. I am so happy I was able to keep up with the Stitch along!

I am so happy I watched Kimberly Jolly sew the next block in Petit Four because she was sewing it on a YouTube Tutorial and she make a cutting mistake. I would have made the same mistake because in the pattern the light and dark pieces are reversed that the traditional coloring of the block as suggested by the coloring on the paper piecing paper! I would have been very sad indeed! That is what I love about watching her videos, she is very professional yet she shows the mistake and gets upset about it and recovers all on camera. I can totally relate Kimberly!!

Look at the block and then look at the color placement on the paper pad at the top of the pic! I printed the quilt photo out so I can look at the color placement in each block carefully before I make 8 or 9 of them! I am using the 6 inch pads not the 4 inch.

I have a busy week next week and I am hoping to attend an afternoon sewing session with other quilters on my day off Friday. I am not sure I will lug my machine and all the accoutrement. I may just take my hexies and cross stitch. If I were really organized, I would put a binding on a quilt and I could hand stitch it. I don’t wanna wish my life away however, I am really finding it difficult to find a group of ANY type of craft that meets when I am not working. I haven’t found a solution to that. I guess I have something to look forward to when I retire.

  1. You always manage to get lots done no matter what! I do feel like I am at least learning even while watching FlossTubes. I’m not sure if I am a quilt group kind of sewer. It’s always been a solitary hobby for me except when my Grandma would come spend winters with us. She was the only other quilter in the family and we had great times together at quilt shows and working on projects. I really miss her. I know I am looking forward to retirement to figure those things out but at the same time, it’s a bit scary.
Hope the therapy goes well! Water just might be your thing!

    • I agree about learning when you watch flosstube or other videos! I am always learning. I want to go spend the day with other quilters for the Sew in. I decided I am not a group sewer for productivity but for company. It’s great to have a lunch with them and to hear /share about everyone’s life. I do miss having a face to face community . Our quilt shop has free sew in days too and when I am retired I am going to check it out !

  2. I honestly can’t wait to be retired! I want to attend sew in and maybe another group. I can take classes at the local shops and in general expend my energy on what I want like working out and then going out for coffee! Pub knitting at 4 pm! All the things lol 😆
