Saturday Morning Coffee

Saturday is finally here! It felt like the 4-day work week was really an 8-day week. Lots packed in a short amount of time! It was a week of winter being really present with very cold temperatures in single digits and last night below zero F. When it is that cold, it is very tiring. I snuggle under a quilt and try to stay warm. I try to go to bed a little early and wake up to a cold house and a hot coffee.

With the cold temps, I decided it was more of a week to knit. I am making big progress on finishing my elementary wrap. I also got in new bamboo needles and started a wrap with sleeves called Wrap Me Up Sweater Scarf. I have made about 6 inches progress on the cuff. It is with a Plymouth worsted weight yard and will be very pretty and practical! These bamboo needles feel like the project will practically knit itself! I am a very slow knitter but these needles help. I also mastered the long tail cast on using my Craftsy membership to watch classes. Perfect for the cold winter days when I feel I need to stay bundled up at home.

I am dreaming about my outdoor garden. I am thinking about changing up my fairy garden area because it is hard for me to set up and I need new houses which are pretty expensive. I am going to add larger than fairy garden size things that will last longer yet feel magical. I will get some annuals in pots for my porch and mailbox area and set up fairy gardens in the pots. I am also starting to set up an indoor fairy garden with my houseplants.

I have to group all of my plants in one room that has good natural light but I can see them from my favorite chair. I am going to set that table up as a fairy garden with lights, fairies and other accessories. It will look super cute. I love these lights:

lights on amazon!

This got me thinking about making some needle felted fairies for the project! Like this one:

January is a great month to dream about projects. It’s a great time to start projects, too. I am doing the 24 in 24 quilt along and cross stitch along. I am loving the relaxed time off I have.

It’s going to be a great weekend for NFL football because my Lions are still in the playoff, can’t get much better than that! Perfect weekend to sit and knit!

  1. It’s so nice to have several crafts to rotate to suit our needs. I don’t knit (yet!) but have a quilt I am hand quilting and provides something warm during the cold. Although I am embarrassed to say mid 40’s is cold for us here. I have several middle US family trying to describe the temps that they are experiencing. I just hope the heaters keep working!
Enjoy your weekend! And don’t forget a pot of soup or chili to go with the football!
