Saturday Morning Coffee

This week was a wintery Valentine’s, and our 38th Wedding Anniversary was the next day. We have had 4 to 6 inches of snow since Wednesday. Last night, the roads improved, and we were able to go out to dinner. We chose one of our local steak houses to celebrate. We got in quickly and had a delightful meal. It was a great atmosphere, good conversation and cloth napkins with tablecloths. I really enjoyed the treat!

I had a little trip on the mat under my office chair and dropped my personal cell phone while packing up to leave for the day. I have a cracked screen now with areas of dead spots. I am not happy because the insurance repair places can’t get parts to replace the screen and to replace the phone they are on back order. Never buy a phone with a rounded or beveled edge screen, they can’t take a drop. This is the second screen I have broken on my Samsung Galaxy S22. I want to go back to a Google Pixel after this is settled.

This has been a knitting and cross-stitching week for me. I have not had time or brain space after work to sew. I hope to do a little more sewing on this 3-day weekend. Always things to do and make around here!

I had a little idea this week about starting an Etsy shop and sell limited items. I was thinking about cutting out 1-inch hexies from card stock and sell kits with squares of fabric with the hexies to make a small flower. It’s an idea. It’s hard for many to get the hexies cut out so there may be an opportunity to sell them and all of this extra fabric I have that I may never use up! What do you think?

I have enjoyed the birds digging through the snow to get some seeds from the feeder. The Mourning Doves have finally knocked off the snow today, but the little purple finches perched on the edge of the platform feeder and were eating next to snow taller than they are! Common birds are out at the feeder, finches, blue Jays, black capped chickadees, Doves, Juncos and we saw a Downey Woodpecker once. The feeder is in the garden, and I keep looking out and planning a few things to do in it for spring. Maybe a new feature or two.

Off to get some coffee and start the day,

Vicki

  1. Love the Etsy Shop idea. Things like that can be so fun when you are just wading in the shallow end of the stream, and it doesn’t become some demanding second job.

  2. thanks for the comment! Yes the top priority is decluttering and getting the items in this house ready for a down size! The etsy shop idea is just an idea right now and would be small limited batch runs to keep it manageable.

I am really hoping to spend a little time today and get a couple of things sorted and ready to go to rhe bigger Goodwill.

    have a lovely weekend !!

  3. Happy Anniversary! That’s so nice the weather cooperated to give you a nice time out! That’s too bad about your phone! I hope it won’t affect using your health app that seems to help you so much. I had no idea phone part availability is an issue!
The hexagon idea might work out but don’t let it distract you from the “Swedish death cleansing” project! You could just try with a small amount and see how it goes. It is a good idea but you are on countdown to retirement and I can share personally that time goes fast especially when you are still working and need to keep your health a priority. I was glad I had done so much to be ready because the opportunity to move came up suddenly and I needed to make a quick decision. Of course you know, if you decide to do it, I will buy the first batch. 😊 Have a great weekend!
