Saturday Morning Coffee

What a whirlwind week at work! So busy that I was pretty drained by the time I got home. I only crocheted a couple of squares. Then my shoulder and elbow started hurting, and I wondered if it was all the crocheting. So, I started sewing down the binding on Petite four and it is done! I will finish Spooky and Sweet binding this weekend and look for another quilt to bind.

The weather has been much cooler due to grey skies and rain. I am sure the warmer summer weather isn’t over but there are signs that the seasons are starting to change. I have been restraining myself in decorating for the fall. I have fall things and I have Halloween. I will decorate mid-September.

I started to needle felt a mushroom I intend to be a plant poke and I may finish it this weekend. I like needle felting, but I like to take my time with it because I need a lot of breaks even in a small project. I think that is me in all projects -slow with lots of breaks. It takes me so long do get things done vs what I could do a few years ago.

I try not to compare myself now to others or even a younger version of myself. It isn’t fair because things aren’t the same at all. I am not the same.

Well, I want to let you know that I will be taking a break from the blog and podcasting until after my vacation. If you like vacation pictures and such please follow me on Instagram or Facebook. I will be temporarily suspending my Facebook group because I won’t be able to monitor it. I am going to Grand Rapids quilt show by AQS next weekend. Then Labor Day weekend we begin our 2 week vacation. I will be doing some catching up when I get back.

Until next time,

Vicki

  1. I am the same with slowing down. Retirement is still new so I still have to constantly remind myself there is no hurry. I think we have been trained all of our lives to be productive and not ‘waste’ any time. But without breaks and rest, creativity is not possible. So take your time —and have a great vacation!
