Saturday Morning Coffee

The leaves are really starting to turn to oranges and red. The evenings are getting cool, in fact it was 31 degrees a couple of days ago. The daytime temps have been warm, but I love it. I feel our summer was cold and grey, so these extended sunny fall days are nothing short of magical.

A friend of mine started selling baked goods self-serve style from her porch. Venmo or exact cash in a Mason jar. It is good to still have people who believe in the honor system. I bought an everything bagel and a cookie. They were wonderful!

I am constantly reminded that my little town isn’t so little anymore. Traffic has been a problem and is worse on weekends with tourists coming to look at the leaves. Crime has been growing hence the need for home security systems and ring doorbells. Plus, we have had 3 murders in a month. Unheard of here. My sleepy little, boring town seems to be experiencing the pains of modern life. I am not really liking the negative things that come with all of the growth and expansion.

This weekend is a weekend to myself. Husband has an out of town highland game. I have my usual plans of cleaning, sewing and tidying up. If the weather cooperates, I want to take a little drive and get some photos of the leaves in their autumnal glory. Shipshewana on the Road is in town and for a break from home, I think I am going to see what that is all about.

I need to put some cinnamon stick stems on the granny square pumpkins. The knobs are too short, I think. I used this Pattern. Its basically 2 granny squares and I chose to add the ribs by wrapping yarn around the pumpkin, yarn was at Hobby Lobby.

I have been asked by Fat Quarter Shop to join them in a sew along with Sherri and Chelsea new book called Family Favorites. All the details are here. I wanted to pick a different line than what Sherri and Chelsea used in the book to make the quilt my own so I chose the Feed My Soul line by Sandy Gervais. Love it so much here is the fabric:

I am going to try to not over do it this weekend. I have been really tired, and I need to rest more this. I am still filling in the moon on my Halloween cross stitch project. I may record a podcast. Most of all just do what the energy allows me to.

Thanks for all those who used my FQS affiliate link to make their purchases because that helped pay for my podcast hosting fees! Link in sidebar!

But first coffee and my fresh bagel.

Vicki

  1. we are going through those growing pains in our town too. Orange groves disappeared for homes and shopping centers, traffic so horrible it keeps me on Amazon rather than local stores. I think the only plus is we are getting a Trader Joe’s about 1/2 mile from me.
Using your FQS is so easy. I hope more people use it! It’s the easiest way to give and I’m happy FQS has the affiliate program in place.
Enjoy your weekend and those lovely fall colors!

    • thank you!! I am glad they have the affiliate program too!! I appreciate your support! I am glad I have someone who likes to drive otherwise I may never leave home and the cost of flights are getting out of reach also. I am enjoying the benefits of my towns growth , a downtown that has places to visit, shopping and such. I hate the traffic and so more online shopping for me also! I am finding the parking situation is also a nightmare. I am really glad that it’s pretty here and not far if I need to get some peace and quiet in nature

  2. I thought of you as I headed South through your town yesterday on the long road home. Your pumpkins are cute! The fabric photos aren’t showing for me but my service may not be the best right now either.

get some rest and hope you feel better soon!
