It’s been quite a grey and rainy November so far. I have been digging into the cozy season or hygge way of life. We had such a long warm extended fall that when the time change happened, and cooler days rolled in that it felt very abrupt. And dark!
My friend sent me this video and it is a beautiful way to learn about hygge and embrace it in your life. The long dark nights of the year as we approach the winter solstice need special traditions, rituals and activities. I have been getting my candles out, eating small little baked treats with my hot coffee or tea. I have snuggled into knitting and hand stitching. I may start another project and then work on finishing up a thing or two. Thats the beauty of hygge treating yourself kindly, small indulgences and stop being so harsh. Just as the light softens and is more gentle we need to be the same with ourselves as well as loved ones.
Part of hygge is spending time with friends and family. I have been having dinner both at home and out with my husband and enjoying our time together after work. I have gone to a quilt guild, and I am joining a monthly meeting starting this week at the quilt shop for Lori Holt fans. I am ridiculously happy about these things. It more about meeting other who enjoy some of the same things that I do.
This week I was interviewed by Katherine Marie of the Long covid Real Talk podcast. I really enjoyed our chat and meeting another long hauler. I expect that to air later this month. Here is a little teaser clip she released from our chat: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1FD1GWztv9/
I have started an embroidery project called Wander by BZ creation. I have revived a dream of making a wall showcasing a gallery of my hoop art. I have several items stitched and I think I can actually start on this project this week. I have been thinking about it for several years and never fully committed to hanging anything up. But I took inventory on what I have already made embroidery as well as cross stitch and there are quite a few hoops already done!

I am also doing a free Making Zen online retreat next week. I really love some of the presenters and the projects they are sharing at the retreat. It isn’t too late to get your free ticket with all the information here: https://www.makingzen.com/schedule
You get to see all types of crafts being made with free printables and ideas. I love these online free retreats and you only watch the videos that appeal to you that day. The videos are posted to watch for 24 hours but you can buy the VIP pass for forever access.
Hygge season is here, and I am embracing it to the fullest.

Found the perfect frame for my little cross stitch project. Pattern from Wild Violet.
I am going to finish my coffee and find comfy, cozy clothes to wear then amble through my day going where the vibes take me.

Your hoop wall sounds like a wonderful winter project—great idea! This is actually my favorite time of year. It’s summer that leaves me down and depressed. Is there Summer Hygge? Hahaha- I might need to check that out! The video was so inspiring and thoughtful! Loved every minute, especially her sweaters! Glad to hear you are feeling better and have lots to look forward to.

My sewing room is in the basement. While that might sound dismal, my basement is bright and warm. I’m drawn down there this time of year. It’s my happy place!
It sounds like you’re feeling better after your lousy week last week. Good to hear!

i am feeling much better! Thanks for asking. I am deeply grateful for everything in my life. I am drawn to my crafty space in winter and to the long arm. Spent most of yesterday there and enjoyed immensely. Meds are helping control long COVID symptoms and I am enjoying November!
