I woke up to the sounds of the snow plows and the city heavy equipment BEEP,BEEP, BEEP as they were clearing the city parking lots for a day of shopping. Its very dark and I have to use the ring doorbell camera to see how much snow fell last night. Not more than an inch or two is on my car. I know some areas were blasted yesterday with snow and for once we didn’t. I think we are expecting a little snow today.

I am trying to decide what I want to do today. January is tough because I don’t feel like doing anything yet I have lots of ideas on what I could be doing. Lack of sunlight, cold temps and post holiday excitement makes this a dull and boring month. I also think that with the holidays mid week the last 2 weeks have been really choppy and out of sync. Time to get back into sync.

Exercise is top of my list. I have been doing qi gong and I rowed for 10 min New Years day. I also walked about a mile in the woods. It felt good but the next day my legs were tired, my balance was off and I stretched something in my leg doing qi gong. I will try to walk again today most likely in a store and do more qi gong.

Next is what we are going to do with meals, cooking and such. Keeping Hello Fresh after a discussion about trying to buy all of the groceries based on a meal planning app, Mealime. I am glad that Hello Fresh won because it is something I like a lot and it makes cooking healthy meals easy. Also, house keeper is staying. Yay!

I am really working on keeping things in my creative space that I want and have a desire to do. I am going to open up an Etsy shop and sell buntings/banners made from the fabric I have that I don’t see being used for a quilt. I can also use it up for the 10 placemats I need to make for the quilt guild charity meals on wheels. I have sorted thru my paints and pens. I am giving the paints I don’t want away to a co worker. I just have too much stuff. I can’t find things and need more space to organize what I want to keep.

I have been decluttering a thing a day but I need to step it up to decluttering a garbage bag or two of items that need to go and get it out of the house. January feels claustrophobic because the house is small and our possessions are a little too many for the space we have. I am ready to let so much more go. It is a thing that the more you get rid of or let go the more you find that can go too!

Today is the day that the Christmas tree and decorations are put away for another year. I am planning to go to Hobby lobby to look at chunky yarn to finish a batch of granny squares I made a couple of years ago, into something. I was going to make a cardigan but realized I didn’t like the combo of yarns. But, I say these plant pot covers and really like them. I want to jazz up the houseplant area and this would look good.

Pic is from Everything Crochet post about plant pot covers or baskets. I have all pink or all denim grannies. I want to make the basket and then see what trim or handles I would like on them.

and I am having plant drama with my Calathea. It got a little dry. I watered it, turned up the heat on the porch because it was a little chilly. And this pic is the after last night with extra care, it doesn’t look great. I will see if the drama continues to improve today, it may need a little more water and a day with the grow light.

Have a great Saturday! I am going to get some coffee, and then maybe even more !

  1. Happy Saturday! Enjoy your day out and about. I have walked dogs, drinking coffee and reading your blog. My goal today is to find a backing for my Christmas quilt top I finished and Costco run! Yippee it will be a “BLAST” with all the “peeps” getting ready for potential snow, freezing rain or who knows what!
Have a blessed and wonderful Saturday!
