Fantabulous Scrappy Stars Quilt along

My friend Angel designed a lovely quilt that would be a great scrap quilt. She is using her Lori Holt stash for this fantastic quilt.

We are at week two already and I realized I haven’t made a specific blog post about the quilt along and why I have chosen to do a smaller version as Angel is making a larger version.

I love paper piecing! I also love small paper piecing. Angel asked the question on her YouTube about the first block she made and would people be interested in a quilt using that block as the base with changing centers. I immediately said yes and asked about using my collection of 4 inch foundation paper piecing pads by Its so Emma. These are some in Angel’s quilt shop as well as many local quilt shops. I also need paper piecing for the flying geese or I will lose points in the stars.

That is why I am doing the smaller blocks and using my fpp stash!

I was going to use my Lori Holt stash because I absolutely love that fabric but I am working on a quilt using that fabric and I don’t want to run out. So I chose some scraps and stash from two other lines that go together well Strawberry Lemonade from moda and a liberty line from Riley blake. This quilt is perfect for scraps and busting your stash so the more fabrics I keep adding to the mix the better it is looking!

I am making some of the sashing as I go but want to put it on the design wall during the final layout for aesthetic reason. And I am not sure what I am going to do for the corner stones. We all are encouraged to make little tweaks and changes !

This is a free quilt along but when we are finished the patterns will not be free anymore so make sure you go to Angela’s blog to get the patterns, check out her YouTube for tutorials and dig thru your stash!!

Here are my blocks so far!!

Need the paper piecing pads? Check out her quilt shop: https://www.haloinspired.com/shop under the Foundation Paper Piecing tab

I would love to see your blocks !
