Today is a highland game day. I have been sitting under a canopy this morning after my coffee, watching the festival get set up and the athletes are preparing for the day.
It’s going to be a pleasant day with a light breeze and lots of sunshine. I am sprayed for bugs and sunscreen. I am watching folks stretching , greeting old friends and making new ones in their groups for the competition.
The bands are warming up and the vendors are ready. The energy is palpable with people feeling anxious yet there is always a lot of laughter and hugs.
I go to several of these games a summer because my husband competes in the games and judges some. He is competing today. I am enjoying the weather, music and competition. If there is a festival I usually am at the games.
Celtic festivals are fun. You never know what you may be able to enjoy. It’s a celebration of heritage, tradition and a coming together of people whose only common connection is the festivals and in our case the games athletes.
I have my water and snacks. It will be a full day but my favorite part is that it’s summer, sunny and no stress to do anything.
