Here is the second block I tested for quiltmaker 100 block magazine. I really liked the woven ribbon effect. I have to say I liked so much I included it in my final quilt, too.

I think the key to these types of paper pieced blocks is to take your time and label all the pieces so the right fabric placement is easier.
