Solstice

Last night was the longest night of the year. Winter Solstice is here with the darkness that accompanies it. I lit my luminaries, lit the candles, lit the tree. It was dark very early because it was snowing out. It is still dark this morning. I enjoyed the soft candle light last evening as it banished the darkness and I wake today anticipating the return the of the light.

Because of the snow and cloudy weather, I couldn’t see the Christmas star which is the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in the sky. I hope to see it one night this week. It can’t be cloudy and grey forever!

This morning I have all the lights on in the house and my little sun lamp. It helps to get me going and doing the things I need to do to prepare for the day. I hope to start sewing a few seams today and get started on some pineapple quilt blocks. I am breaking tradition with new starts waiting for the new year because I don’t know why I always wait. I usually finish up projects over Christmas and I will do both this year. New quilt and finish my crochet shawl , a great way to spend time.

I am preparing myself for a lovely long weekend. I have done most things to prepare for Christmas so all that is left is to enjoy it!
