New Years Eve

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For days of auld lang syneWe twa hae run about the braes
And pu’d the gowans fine
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit
Sin days of auld lang syneWe twa hae paidl’d i’ the burn
Frae morning sun till dine
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
Sin days of auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For days of auld lang syneAnd surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp
And surely I’ll be mine
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneAnd there’s a hand, my trusty fiere
And gie’s a hand o’ thine
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught
For auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syneFor auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet
For auld lang syne

I have to say that I look forward to watching the celebration of ringing in the New Year and I will see if there is a ball drop in Times Square tonight. Edinburg Scotland usually has a massive Hogmanay party with fireworks but their virtual show this year due to the Lockdown is with the drones , music and poetry. It will bring you to tears. And the first video is my favorite version of Auld Lange Syne.

I have Scottish ancestry so this rings deeply in me. I have been to Edinburgh so I know where the drones were flying and it makes it that much more special. I am so glad that 2020, the year we stayed home, is ending and have hope for 2021 being better. I hope that 2021 will be the year that some of my faith can be restored in humans again.

I will raise a toast to kindness, Dear , for auld lange syne,

Vicki
