Today is a bonus day off. I am going to think all day about the legacy of Dr Martin Luther King and where my nation is today. I want to think about a place where everyone is free, everyone is treated equally, all of us count every day on an even playing field. As the saying goes, we stand on the shoulders of giants. Those who saw what needed to be changed and they stood tall for it. They stood strong. They started the movement of change with boldness and conviction.

I don’t know where I fit in for a movement of peaceful change. All I can think is that I have to be aware. I need to educate myself on everything going on around me. Understand what I need to do in my life to be a positive agent of change by first changing my way of thinking . Then letting it spill over into my life and world. I am not just talking about understanding who the January protestors are. I am also talking about all topics that are going on. Everything from Equality and Civil rights movements, BLM, Feminism… to things like environmentalism and politics. I need to keep learning so I can continue to make this world a better place for all of us as well as making this physical world a better place.

I guess change starts inside of us and then can spread through the world. The next step is living your convictions in a positive and productive way. I can’t pretend that these things are far away and don’t affect me anymore. They are here, they are now and more important than ever. It’s my generation that need to be leaders.

I am going to spend my day thinking, cleaning and making as I ponder these things.
