We have had perfect weather for over a week. 80s , sunny, light cool breezes and cooler evenings to sleep well. It is the type of weather that you cannot complain about it one bit. There was a little rain over night and this morning and we’re back to 80s and sunny for days. I honestly feel like it can’t get much better than this!

I have been getting outside a little in the sunshine. I walk around the flower beds checking out the daily blooms and this week I see the Iris are blooming , bridal veil spiorea and candy tufts. I have birds visiting and we have seen a humming bird fly thru the flowers. I have done some weeding and super slow gardening. I have plans to lift and spread about a few flowers and tame the weeds and grasses that want to invade. My husband bought a weed burner and will be my very excited assistant to test out this new contraption.

Summer is the time when our list of projects that have to be done during in warmer weather. Time is short and of the essence. We hired and couple of people to help. Yesterday , dead and dangerous trees were removed. A huge weight of worry about them falling on our home or the neighbors, has been lifted. We also had help remove an empty starling nest and fix the soffet on the top of a seventeen foot ladder.

This week I have been getting happy mail with 12 colorwash chip quilt blocks. They are from a block exchange I am part of. It’s so exciting to get each envelope and look at each block. I have been thrilled with the fabrics people have used and I think it is going to be a fantastic quilt. I hope everyone loves the blocks I sent as much as I love theirs. Block exchanges are so much fun because it’s like a potluck pick a mix. You never know what you are going to get. The success of this scrap quilt is having a huge variety of colors and fabrics. I am putting them on the design wall to look at each little gem. They are so addicting to make, I know I am going to keep making them so I have a quilt that is a nice size to enjoy.
I have been crocheting towel toppers for a friend. I am hoping they like them. They are an easy make. I have been doing a lot of crochet this month. I have some granny squares I make when I need a meditative reset to my brain. They are in a little to go bag that’s by my chair and with me often when out.
I plan to finish my granny square cardigan once I have the towel topper project complete. In the assembly process I realized I needed more squares and more yarn.
Today, I am doing one of my favorite things- teaching people meditative crafting. Today is my first crochet class for a veterans group at their weekend retreat! I am so excited. We will be doing the basics, chain ,single crochet and double crochet. Hopefully a little border for a coaster similar to the one pictured below. Sponsors provided the yarn, hooks and handouts. I have a few crochet samples to share a mini trunk show to start out and then jumping into making. I am hoping that teaching will continue because I really enjoy it! The pic below is the class sample being blocked.

I also grabbed the next quilt top from my UFO drawer for long arming. My Family Sized Potato chip quilt is going on the frame this weekend! I decided I need to pick a UFO each month to finish. It will make me feel so good that it is done and get the monkey off my back that I have so many unfinished projects lingering. That takes up to much brain space !

I am off to get my coffee and pack my bag for class! I hope you have a great weekend!
