Saturday morning coffee

I am going to have a most exciting morning. I get to open a new can of Tim Hortons coffee! I have been looking forward to it as I used up the last of the ground coffee yesterday. My favorite cup of coffee is the first brewed out of the can. So fresh and full of flavor.

On my quest to finish things, I have loaded my family sized potato chip quilt and I plan to start longarming it today. I have no plan for stitching it and I will have to think what I want to quilt on it. It will be an all over fmq pattern because I would like it done ! I am reminding myself mantra these days of Keep it Simple. I tend to overcomplicate things in every way.

Progress has been made in the recovery of the injury of both heels. The swelling is less and walking is better. I had to stop any exercise that puts load or strain on them, use my new compression socks and go to the chiropractor who is putting a fast speed electrical stimulation on them. I am encouraged because it has been months of the pain and limitations in my walking as well as activities. I definitely have been humbled in all this and the lesson I have learned is to not take anything for granted!!

This is a weekend of self care at home. My husband is out of town for a highland game and I didn’t want to use up all my vacation time this summer for games. I have a few places I want to go so I need to budget the time off really well.

He left Thursday. I have been thinking about all the things I want to do for self care. I decided to revisit my mantra of keeping it simple by doing the following:

Rest when I need to rest. Make things when I have the energy to make things from the current ongoing projects of crochet grannies for a cardigan, slow stitching a fabric book, long arming, do a podcast and a couple of chores. I want to do my nails, binge watch Murder with my husband podcast on Netflix and overall just heal from the crazy busy last few months.

I am really letting go of the complusion to make each moment very productive. I am learning to really rest and pace activities since I have had such a lengthy Long covid flare up on top this injury. Pushing through only makes it worse and last longer to my dismay.

I did have a fabulous lunch with a friend yesterday and we had a great visit catching up on life. Lest you think I have been a total hermit 😂 I did leave the house.

Off to get the coffee brewing and and then slowly enjoy the first brew out of this can of coffee.

  1. Your issues sound like What I have been going through the last few years. I found this doing things with in your limits is difficult when you have been a very productive person your whole life. Sounds like you are on the right track to enjoying life in a little different way. Enjoy your weekend and your projects.
