Saturday morning coffee

July has been pretty hot and I am trying to just enjoy it and the sunshine. I am more comfortable at home with my air conditioning and comfy furniture than at work with window air units. But I guess it wouldn’t be work if it was comfortable because it’s called work. I have been wearing headphones more often to drown out the sound of the ancient unit sitting near my head at the office. I am able to stay reasonably cool.

It’s been a week of dieting, calorie counting and trying to not get utterly bored with it all. Using the app with my glucose monitoring system makes it so easy , snap a picture and it is counted and carb count broken down. I still enjoy riding the exercise bike and 10 is my max right now with post exertional malaise as an issue with long covid. I have had a little fatigue but not bedridden. I have decided that one cannot live in cottage cheese and veggies alone. I miss the bread. I am trying to think of interesting and tasty meals that don’t involved uncooked veggies due to the parasite outbreak in Michigan. So no light summer salads or fresh fruit and veggies for now.

I have a day to myself. It’s too hot to attend the Ann Arbor/Saline highland games. My husband is competing but I am saving my energy for the big Willow Run airshow next weekend. We have fancy tent seating with food and beverages. Looking forward to that because it will be a new experience at that location for me.

I have been sewing the fabric challenge quilt with a free Tilda pattern called bloming lanterns. I decided I needed a few more floral fabrics for more interest in my quilt. I hope to have several more blocks made today. I also loaded a quilt to long arm. and hope to have it nearly done this weekend.

Here is a link to the free pattern:

fabrics I bought laying on top of a couple of blocks

I have been improving with my long covid issues since the last flare up in spring. I decided to buy the home version of Brain tap to use outside if the chiropractor office. It is a meditation program. I have tried headspace and it isn’t the same. I think it will be worth the expense.

i have been making journal.pages with stickers and collecting quotes. I have really enjoyed this commonplace journal. The quotes have been so.meaningful to me.

My zinnias collapsed in the heat and I was able to cool them off, move to a better spot and they revived. This pink bloom is the first one after I thought the pot of flowers died! They are so pretty 🥰

i have been listening to the Aura Vow YouTube channel on repeat this week. Its affirmations put to music and I find that remembering things is best ingrained to memory when put to music. It has helped me get thru the week of doing all the adult responsibilities and helping me meet my goals. Maybe you may want to listen to it

I am nearly ready to brew my coffee and I decided I am going to wear pj pants all day and craft to beat the heat.

hope your weekend is amazing!

Vicki
