Saturday Morning Coffee

It’s been warm days and cool nights. I can feel the humidity dropping. The leaves are changing colors on the trees ever so slightly. Summer is slipping into fall these day. I am trying to focus on the delicious cooler temps, but my mind quickly runs to the future and the dreaded 4 letter word: snow. But we really have lots of time to prepare for that!

I am hoping to get my fall decorations out for the house. I am set for a mission of cozy vibes. I hope to spruce up the front entrance and give it a little boost. The decorated stoop trend in several cities online have inspired me to be a little more creative with the front of the house. I am placing an order to Amazon for some faux flowers to accomplish my mission.

My original post didn’t save so I am taking that to mean I should take this post in a different direction. I have had a good week. The good things that happened are many! I visited my family in Virginia. We spend time with the kids and learned more crochet skills, went to the aquarium and then all got sick one by one.

I had a boot on and utilized a wheelchair service. I certainly felt like a queen being pushed around the airport. I was worried about how I was going to get around but it wasn’t an issue.

The not so fun this week was getting over the cough/cold the last couple of days. I hit one month of wearing the boot on my injured achilles so I started to ease off wearing it. Wow, amazing how weak you get in a short amount of time. I will be doing physical therapy to try and heal up. This week I am also struggling with seeing the computer screens with my new funky glasses. I see fine out of the sunglasses so I believe I need to get them adjusted and I played around with monitor placements to find the best position. Bifocals are a pain sometimes.

I have been keeping up with my projects. I have a feeling of restlessness that comes with the fall. I want to start new things, throw out old things and potentially run away to join a circus. However, I am resisting. I am finishing projects I am tired of working on. Wrapping the final steps of others and looking for ways to embrace change.

I am going to start my version of this charm pin:

I am also embracing the slow rhythms of the season. I am getting out some fall decorations. Resetting the house for cozy days, checking the football schedule and a corresponding hand craft to do while watching it. I am preparing my sourdough starter for bread baking. I am celebrating all the small, tiny wins as I go through the week.

This week I was able to walk 1800 steps in a day!

I sewed a few blocks at my sewing machine without pain!

I lost 5 pounds!

I put my laundry away!

I saw some dear friends and had a wonderful visit!

I saw my granddaughters and we crocheted amigurumis!

I enjoyed the aquarium!

I ate some delicious food!

All in all a most wonderful week full of wonderful memories, creative moments and taking life slowly. Just as it was meant to be.
