I have been teaching a friend how to quilt. She wanted to make a couple of quilts for her family for Christmas. I always turn to d4p and d9p as a easy go to quilt and thought that it would be perfect for a beginner.
Here is my Disappearing 4 patch (multiple free tutorials on the net) that I made to refresh my memory and make a template. Besides, I needed to make a quilt for a gift also and my friend motivated me to get it done. It is 45×60. I quilted it with feathers. You can see the quilting better by clicking on the picture to enlarge it. Here are a few pics to show you block assembly:
Start with 5 inch squares and join in to a 4 patch. then cut them 1 1/2 inches off center and rotate and cut again then swap the corners and rotate the center to have the final arrangement like the photo. Sew together!
I will resume with the Quiltmaker test block series tomorrow. I am having such a wonderful quilty year! There is always more to come so stay reading!!
