Today is the first day of my week long staycation. I have a list a mile long of things to do so I don’t waste my time. I am three hours into the vacation and I don’t want to do any of the things on the list. This could prove to be a long week, lol. I just wanna chill, not do chores and celebrate my quilt getting into a show.
Actually, today is quilt work. I have a loads to get done and I need today to kick it out. I am going to work on things in 30 min increments because, well I get bored. I really want to get in the car and drive but its pouring down rain and there isn’t a place to go where getting soaked is worth the trip. I am going to wait and see if it clears up and then go for a walk. The rain and chilly temps are so not like June at all. I don’t mind cooler temps but we need a bit more sunshine!
The gardens are set, fairy houses in, weeds pulled, a meadow of wildflowers planted behind the garage and a comfy chair on my limestone patio. I hope to knit more out there this summer. My Griffindor scarf is almost done and I have super chunky yarn to find a shawl pattern for. Its pink and bought at my favorite Yarn shop last Christmas in Virginia Beach.
The house has a few places to keep purging old stuff from and organizing. I wanted it to be an event over the winter not a year long process. I am ok with the process. I have to be in a mood to release things to the universe and do a little at a time. I am slowly becoming more minimalist and aware of being earth conscious and staying away from excessive consumerism and plastics. It is a constant struggle between what I want, what I need and what’s convenient.
How to come to conclusions about it all? It is the same answer as the purging. One step at a time. One box at a time, one decision at a time. In smaller increments. Just like the method I use to make quilts.
I think I am ready to get the stay cation started! Purging closets, painting the kitchen, quilting, getting my haircut and creating is on the plan. I am going to relax and enjoy every minute of it. Sometimes you need to take time off of work to adult and not necessarily go on a trip. I need another cuppa to get this party started.

I have had a relaxing week and quilted a bunch. Didn’t get as much done as my mind thought I would but progress was made. We go out of town tomorrow so today is the last chance to get chores done.

Have a great week, Vicki! All the same things going on here, except that my vacation is permanent! No clue how so much stuff crept into my house over the years…

I enjoy reading your reflections to yourself, a quiet soothing voice that knocks on a door saying hey, this is a good thing and something I myself need to do.
