The weather forecast has snow in it for the first time tomorrow. I knew it was coming but it didn’t make me feel any more prepared for it. I will need to get my jacket out and I wouldn’t hurt to wash it. I must admit my fall jacket is 8 years old and my heavy winter jacket is at least 15 years old. I need to get new ones. Be proud of me, I have purchased a few new items for my wardrobe, and I have looked at new jackets. I really hate spending money on clothes!
I have to say that the quote “the days are long, but the years are short” has been very true for me recently. I can’t believe it is mid-October already. This year is sailing by, yet each day has been a long hard grind. It is the weirdest thing to wake up and realize so much time has gone by. I know that I have been sidelined by Covid and now long Covid since May, that has been the thing that has made this quote true for me this year, I believe. I think I missed a few months in my mind because I was so sick. I do remember them, the projects, the places and the people but was it really months ago? I know it was, but wow Halloween is right around the corner.
I did finish my pumpkins. I haven’t carved a pumpkin in years, so I am always looking for ways to make decorations and buy a few each year. The pumpkin is simple to make, and my friend had a larger template for another pumpkin. I have to get some fiberfill to finish that one and I like the patchwork look I saw on Missouri Star YouTube channel. To see all of the pumpkins made so far, click on my Instgram post below to see the post and swipe the photos to see all of them!
I have been feeling better this week and decided to try to squeeze out the gold background for the Christmastime Mystery quilt and remake the 2 small blocks. I have a dark green fabric that I believe is enough to use for the border. I am glad I remade them because they are ever so much better than the first one’s I made. Tip for mystery quilts: it is best to use all the same background so I am filing that away in my memory banks. Don’t pick a fabric you are limited on! See those little gold pieces next to the quilt? yeah that is all that is left of that fabric , LOL!

Something I have been really inspired by this week is watching trunk shows and project shows on YouTube. I love Lori Holt’s newest video and it features her Quilt Seeds pattern line and the Prairie Flowers. I am making them next year! I also am in love with her banner featured in every photo or video:
So, if you have lost your quilting or crafting mojo check out online trunk shows! Here are a few to check out:
I see several projects in each video that appeal to me. I love the Swoon blocks, Springville and so many quilts in the Camille video and every single project in the Lori Holt video. Check them out for some inspiration!
Have a great weekend!
Vicki

Snow! That’s insane. Here in Louisiana we are all excited about a little spate of cool weather this week (You probably would laugh at what we call cool). But we get giddy when we actually get a few days below 80 before Thanksgiving, lol. Glad you are feeling better.

Yes snow is still in the forecast but thankfully nine so far. I am not a hot weather person but sure love to visit in spring! I am feeling better and hope to really make some big progress this winter. We are happy of we have a greenish Thanksgiving.

We get rain today! Such a rare treat in southern CA these days. I’m looking forward to it for so many reasons but tops is I will be home and get to sew. It has been a terrible, awful, no good, very bad work week so this is my chance to take some much needed time for self care. And I had the same trunk shows on my list although I watched Kimberly’s, it will be fun to watch again. Martingale has some really good ones too! So true about time! I wonder if it slows down when you retire? After this last week, I am more anxious than ever to find out!
I’m so glad you are feeling better Vicki. We are blessed to have our hobbies to keep us moving ahead, our hands busy and our brains active! Have a great weekend and I hope another nature drive.
