Saturday Morning Coffee

This has been a week of needing inspiration, loads of inspirations, any kind of inspiration, Whenever I have a hard week at work or need something as an emotional pick me up, I watch the above TikTok and get my copy of Sam’s speech artwork that’s at my desk out. I read along and read aloud. It is sooo good and helps me remember that there is good in this world, and it is worth fighting for. I have been doing a lot listening and reading of the speech this week. Work was another long, hard week. People I love are going through hard times and it’s not easy.

I have been using the app Headspace on my phone for meditation and I found out the app is so much more since the last time I have checked it out! It has inspirational little videos, how to live a mindful life and loads of wonderful topics to explore and learn more about. I see this month has videos for May is Mental Health Month so there are great videos on that and there are National Parks themed video. Loving using the app in conjunction with my daily journal and it has been very helpful in dealing with all of life’s little or big problems.

I decided that this was the week I really needed to push myself to get one thing done. I was able to press and load a large Queen-sized quilt back. Today is the loading the top and then start quilting it. Once I quilt this, I will be able to get on a roll and knock out all the remaining smaller quilts in my stack before a couple of friends bring some quilts for me. I have felt that I can’t get large quilts loaded because my health has stopped me, but I did it in an hour which is a long time however it is done!! Celebrations have begun lol. Loading this quilt was a hurdle for me to overcome and I finally did it!!

To end the long week, my husband took me out for Cinco De Mayo. We went to our favorite restaurant down the alley from our house and had a wonderful meal and margaritas. It’s been a long time since we ate there, and it was so delicious! I was a perfect antidote for the work week, the cold grey weather and feeling sick as well as drained. The bright colorful atmosphere was electric there. Everyone was trying to get a seat and we got there early enough that we did. I live in a small town to there were lots of familiar faces, we met some tourists in the waiting area and chatted it up. I was so glad because I was really looking forward to date night.

I am not planning on any weekend activities away from home until the end of the month when Memorial Day kicks off summer and Highland game season. I am using this time to rest up, get some quilting done, maybe a bit of spring cleaning and use the inspiration I found in the Sam’s Speech video. May is my birthday month and I want to end this trip around the sun on a high note and then take that momentum into the next trip around the sun.

I think I have found my first leader ender project, Lori Holt being my quilting inspiration:

Have a great weekend!

Vicki

  1. Thanks for the kind words it’s been a couple of really tough weeks at work , with being sick with a cold and concern for loved ones. Sometimes it all comes at once ans it tough. So far my sewing hasn’t had the best results but I feel alot better. I will try again today to sew and long arm. I actually streamed a movie last night and enjoyed it thanks for the coffee so much!!

  2. I know we are on the same page when it comes to work stress. Our coworkers are like a family and the longer we are at our workplaces, the more we know about them and care! Glad you ended the week on a high note! I went to HL to use a gift card and it wasn’t hard. LOL It will be interesting to see how your HL gets designed. You might have seen some of the talk that they are being redone under new ownership (kind of). Less craft products, more home decor and a strong, almost exclusive emphasis on their own store brands. I think there is still plenty to choose from but each department is definitely smaller. Good thing we have a stash and the desire to use what we have! And Instagram and more to provide all the inspiration. Although there is nothing like seeing things in person to stir up some creativity. Enjoy your weekend and a slower pace to fill your “cup” before another round starts on Monday !
